She pays no rent. The family has been displaced seven or eight times, often walking for hours from one place to another without any transportation. Her husband was martyred while trying to collect aid from an American Death Trap site, leaving her to care for the household alone. Among those living with her are her son, who has a severe gluten allergy that once required hospitalisation and still needs special food she cannot currently afford, and her father-in-law, who has diabetes and requires regular insulin. Um Shaaban is seeking funds to leave the polluted tent area, rent a safer place, purchase nutritious food for her son, and buy basic clothes for the family.
