They use an argument from incredulity to squeeze complex geophysical processes into a literal interpretation of an ancient text.
Oceanic crust spreading rates are meticulously measured in millimeters per year. For their 4500 year timeline to work the tectonic plates would have to move millions of times faster than they do today.
The thermal energy released by tearing the crust apart at that speed is enough to boil the oceans away.
