The math isn't mathing.
The world spends more than three times as much on fossil fuel subsidies as it would cost to transition to clean economies for a safe climate and air.
The solutions are ready and the money is there. What’s needed now is action at scale.

Faced with a gas reservation policy, the Big Gas exporters who have spent the last decade whipping up fear of a gas shortage now say supplying more gas will mean the Australian gas market is oversupplied.
Great to confirm we don’t need more drilling!

About three-quarters of the world live in countries that are net importers of fossil fuels.
Recent tensions in the Middle East highlight the risks of a fossil energy system, whereas a clean, electrified energy system is far more resilient to disruptions.

This graph shows why the PRRT is failing. When gas industry revenue skyrockets, Australians should share that upside. It’s our gas that’s being given away. #auspol @FinancialReview

A new piece in @CanaryMediaInc from @AlexCKaufman highlights the public health implications of a huge decision facing steelmakers in the next decade, according to research by @AustCCR.
The decision point: will global steelmakers double down on the 60 polluting fossil-fuel-based blast furnaces that require major relining decisions by 2035?
Or will they transition to cleaner, less polluting methods of steelmaking?
The public health stakes: Every US city with one of these aging steel mills is on the list of the top 25 most polluted cities in the US, according to the @LungAssociation. The type of pollution emitted by these steel mills contributes to everything from asthma, cancer, and heart disease to newborns’ congenital defects, and dementia.
The climate stakes: The implications of the decision whether to reline these 60 steel mills are equivalent to the annual emissions of countries like Spain or Vietnam.
“Coal-based steelmaking is harmful to our health, and we need to be taking more action today to clean up these mills,” @HilaryBayne of @IndustriousLabs said.

SHELL who:
- Get $billions of Aussie gas FOR FREE
- Have NEVER PAID CORPORATE TAX on their QLD export projects
- Pay $0 PRRT
- Price gouge Australians for our own gas
… reckon they should be able to sell gas on the global spot market rather than supply Australians.
