imagine sitting on a panel celebrating fifty years of hip-hop, surrounded by people who helped shape the culture, and confidently explaining that you thought rap was invented in 2014. that's smokecheddathaassgetta, timothée chalamet's soundcloud rapper who has somehow become the most successful artist in the room without appearing to understand the room. mary j. blige is talking about the emotion that keeps hip-hop alive, rick rubin brings the perspective of a legendary producer, and smokechedda is operating on a completely different frequency. his struggles include his dad making him get braces instead of invisalign. this is a man whose relationship with hip-hop history appears to have been downloaded on hotel wi-fi five minutes before the panel.

This happened not too long ago, and the little girl Ruby Bridges is still alive at 72 years old today, they made the pictures black and white just to make you think this happened a long time ago. But in reality, it has been modernised and is still happening today.
THEY PUT A BLACK DOLL IN A COFFIN TO TERROR*ZE A SIX-YEAR-OLD GIRL WHOSE ONLY "CRIME" WAS WALKING INTO A WHITE SCHOOL.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The photo shows a Nov. 23, 1960, mock funeral protest at Louisiana's State Capitol in Baton Rouge for Judge J. Skelly Wright, not an incident at Ruby Bridges' New Orleans school. Bridges has described a similar taunt outside her school. snopes.com/fact-check/rub… npr.org/2010/12/01/131… alamy.com/parents-of-chi…

Black people are getting out to vote across America.
Texas Southern University students are literally marching to the polls to vote for Democrat James Talarico. Texas may turn blue!

This is a disgrace, and it directly impacts our military readiness. Some 1,300 Navy family members were evacuated from Bahrain during the Iran war. Months later, families are still displaced, separated from loved ones, struggling financially, and waiting for answers. Some have spent tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket. Others still can’t access their belongings. These families should NEVER be abandoned. How the hell are our service members supposed to focus on defending this country when they’re worried about whether their own families are being taken care of? Supporting our troops means supporting their families, too. That’s not just a moral obligation. It’s a matter of national security. #SupportTheTroops

🔥 OBAMA: “The thing is, Iran didn’t have nuclear weapons — because I put a deal in place he pulled out of… and the war he started is why the price of everything is UP… how much time do you think Hegseth spends looking at himself in the mirror? These are not serious people.”

SNL took one of the most recognizable stories in Christmas literature and gave it a dark political twist. Instead of Scrooge being visited by Jacob Marley, Trump is visited by Jeffrey Epstein, played by Will Ferrell, while James Austin Johnson plays Trump. The premise alone sets up the joke: the ghost has returned to remind Trump of a past he cannot escape.

SNL’s “Trump Has a Few Things to Address” starts with something millions of people understand: the shock of seeing how much it costs to fill up a car. Then Trump walks into the scene, and an ordinary family’s problem becomes a political comedy sketch. Here’s how it works.

Virtually every university across North Carolina has lost its early voting site. This is a coordinated assault on youth & minority turnout.
North Carolina A&T students marched an hour each way to vote on the first day of early voting after their campus polling site was removed by the Guilford County Elections Board. Proud 👏🏽

To God Be The Glory! 31 Years Ago Today, The Honorable Minister @LouisFarrakhan made a Divine Call, and nearly two million Black men responded, standing before the world and showing a glimpse of heaven. The Historic Million Man March was held on October 16, 1995, in Washington, D.C., for a day devoted to the theme of “Atonement, Reconciliation, and Responsibility.” #MillionManMarch #Farrakhan #HDOA26

58 years ago today, Tommie Smith and John Carlos performed the Black Power salute at the Olympics that outraged millions of white Americans. It was an act of protest by the U.S. athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos during their medal ceremony at the 1968 Summer Olympics in the Olympic Stadium in Mexico City. As they turned to face their flags and hear the American national anthem (The Star-Spangled Banner), they each raised a Black-gloved fist and kept them raised until the anthem had finished. Smith, Carlos and Australian silver medalist Peter Norman all wore human rights badges on their jackets. The event is regarded as one of the most overtly political statements in the history of the modern Olympic Games. Both athletes were kicked off the US team for their protest.
