Labour must face answers about Brand.
In 2008, Russell Brand publicly humiliated Andrew Sachs and his granddaughter, Georgina Baillie. His behaviour was so disgraceful that he was suspended by the BBC and then resigned.
Yet by 2015, Ed Miliband was courting him. His character and treatment of women were hardly a secret. I found Brand repellent at the time. Perhaps that reflected my un-unfashionable bourgeois values. 🤷♂️
But what I want to know
is what on earth did Ed Miliband and others find so attractive at the time? And what did their willingness to overlook Brand’s behaviour say about their own moral judgement and credibility?

There is nothing more revolting than ITV progressive's @PaulBrandITV & @kategarraway shilling for the govt. It has the Research, Information & Communications Unit (RICU) whose role is to indoctrinate the victim's families in high profile murder & terrorist cases into being conciliatory (don't look back in anger etc) rather than telling it how it is.
Take the murder of Henry Nowak. Brand says the Nowak family say his death is being politically exploited, especially two-tier policing.
Brand leads on Lucy Ross, Henry's mother about "political games" & goes onto criticise people speaking of two-tier policing. Asked if there was two-tier policing by Brand she replies:
"I want to know why Henry was on the floor & he got treated the way he did, but that family got treated in a different way."
IT IS WAS BECAUSE OF TWO-TIER POLICING
The College of Policing is explicit in a two-tier approach & I quote:
"Producing equality of policing outcomes for people from different ethnic groups by responding to individuals and communities according to their specific needs, circumstances and experiences, with understanding that these will be racialised and with the aim of reducing harm.
"It does not mean treating everyone ‘the same’ or being ‘colour blind’ (racial equality)."
Good God if grooming gangs had been politicised 30 years ago we'd have hundreds of thousands less victims.

For a working family with kids and a mortgage to pay, 5% inflation and mortgage rates of 7-8% are existential. They've already cancelled the holiday, cut the takeaway, and given up on Netflix.
They cannot afford more. Lives will be ruined.
Why has the Bank of England increased interest rates and mortgage repayments?
Because Labour is sending prices through the roof – now estimated to be 5% by January. Mad policies like net zero and Labour's taxes and regulations are increasing the price of everything. The Bank raises interest rates to get on top of that incompetence.
And it's working families, not politicians who really suffer. Honestly, the old parties in Westminster just don't get it. The Tories don't even mention the Cost of Living – I guess it doesn't affect them or their friends. And Labour don't care about you unless you’re on benefits, and they're too busy with nonsense like banning smoky bacon crisps.
This madness can't go on! Any competent government that cared about people would do the obvious. Cut people's bills with common-sense policies.
Within 100 Days, Reform would:
• Scrap net zero subsidies and price-raising policies
• Eliminate Labour's jobs tax for British workers
• End the mad policies that are driving up rents and the cost of doing business
• Give the average working family £1300 in tax breaks and lower fuel costs.
We don't need to keep getting poorer. Let's cut bills instead!

I’ve never been a fan of Russel Brand. He was a bit of an annoying slightly mad lefty celeb IMO. BUT
As a former criminal lawyer who strode happily into the more comfortable world of white collar crime and corporate investigations I’d like to say a few words of surprise and re @rustyrockets conviction.
The verdict is perverse. Complainants were believed one minute and not the next. He was a rapist one minute and not the next.
The charges were unfair in light of the documentary especially when folk went to prison post brutal attack and murder of little girls at a Taylor Swift themed party because to refer to the suspect would “seriously prejudice his fair trial”. Come tf off it Mr Starmer.
The police are also now trying to make amends for the fact that tens of not hundreds of thousands of underage girls were raped abused and groomed and this literally didn’t give a toss because - “racism” and “community relations”.
It takes a certain kind of skill to defend a sex case. And tons of hours in court. You would NOT instruct a posh crime / fraud legal team. I’m astonished he did that.
Brand needed a shin kicker who could pull rabbits out of hats. A criminal hack.
Finally as a 90’s girl who could work hard and play hard, I remember many of us were rather wild at times - and as a lawyer in the 00’s I’m pretty sure that middle class women were absolutely taken seriously by the police.
Poor Laura and the kids. I suspect there will be an appeal. And a shit loads of civil claims £££.

The moans from the SNP benches is pathetic when he says what we all see everyday in our towns.
