Meet Gurmoh, tonight’s @Canucksforkids Star of the Game presented by @RBC! His family’s search for hope sparked a nationwide movement that raised or committed over $7 million in five months. Tonight, we celebrate this little boy who loves hockey, dinosaurs, and fire trucks, and the community behind his family.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞-𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐢𝐤𝐡 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝟏𝟗𝟖𝟒? “Almost as many Sikhs died in a few days in India in 1984 than all the deaths and disappearances in Chile during the 17-year military rule of Gen. Augusto Pinochet between 1973 and 1990,” wrote Barbara Crossette, New York Times. In the wake of Indira Gandhi's assassination on Oct 31, 1984, 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐢𝐤𝐡𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝 in Delhi and an estimated eight thousand in other parts of the country. Around fifty thousand families were uprooted. The streets of Delhi were echoing with "𝐊𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦." "𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦." "𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞." Hundreds of dead bodies were cremated secretly. “𝐍𝐚 𝐫𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐠𝐚 𝐛𝐚𝐚𝐧𝐬, 𝐧𝐚 𝐫𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐠𝐢 𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐢” was the motto. Indira Gandhi was termed as Durga Maata and Sikhs were called traitors. In an unprecedented move, the Supreme Court was locked for four days while this blood bath was going on. Like the Gujarat pogrom, police tacitly approved the mass killings. In Kotla Mubarak, a domestic help told the party workers of Gurchaan Singh Babbar that the police instigated the mob with statements like: “𝐖𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝟑𝟔 𝐡𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐤𝐡𝐬, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨? 𝐇𝐚𝐝 𝐰𝐞 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐢𝐤𝐡𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐥𝐥.” The survivors in Kingsway Camp claimed that 70% of the loot from Sikh establishments could be found in the local police station. According to a report on Nanaksar relief camp, it is difficult to describe the brutality with which people were killed in 3 days. 150 Sikhs belonging to different families who took shelter in this camp were killed. There are 𝟕𝟐 𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝟐𝟎–𝟒𝟓 from here alone. There were three types of Congress workers who organised the massacre: 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐢𝐤𝐡 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐰 𝐮𝐩 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐛𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲, 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 '𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐥' 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞. School registers were searched to identify Sikh houses. Houses and other property were marked with alphabets X, D(D), and S in an operation akin to what Nazis did to establishments of Jews in Germany. Ration cards and voters' lists were also obtained to identify houses. Even more significant is the fact that in Trilokpuri, Mongolpuri, and Sultanpuri, local Congress party leaders led the killer mobs. These colonies were set up under the Congress party's urbanisation programme, and the population here has since 1984 a solid support.

The November 1984 Sikh Genocide was a dark chapter in history for the Sikh community. Thousands lost their lives in a brutal wave of state sponsored and orchestrated violence, their stories silenced but not forgotten. Never Forget 1984.⁩

A propaganda report has been challenged. Are publishers now clarifying or apologizing? The credibility of another propagandist has been further diminished.
On September 10, 2020, the Macdonald-Laurier Institute (MLI) published a report authored by Terry Milewski, “Khalistan: A Project of Pakistan”. The report states that “it’s Pakistanis, not Khalistanis, who are driving the campaign” for an independent Sikh state. MLI and Mr. Milewski wish to clarify that the paper does not allege that Sikhs for Justice is funded or directed by Pakistan. We acknowledge that Sikhs for Justice has its own agency. Finally, as the report states, Sikhs for Justice and its leadership are “the driving force in the campaign for a referendum on Sikh independence.”

This week, we remember victims of the 1984 Sikh genocide, where thousands of innocent Sikhs lost their lives in horrific acts of violence driven by hatred. We honour their memory, stand with the survivors and families, and reaffirm that such atrocities must never be forgotten.

The Fresno Police Department falsely smeared an elected official just a week before the election and, yes, it is it as bad as it sounds: 1. Fresno PD pulled over Naindeep Singh for a pretext registration check and then accused him of driving under the influence of drugs. 2. Naindeep passed a breathalyzer test and volunteered to give blood/urine samples. 3. PD took him to the hospital and got the tests done. 4. Naindeep also had another urine test at the same hospital and the reports are negative for drugs. 5. Fresno PD and City leadership immediately ran to media and got wall-to-wall coverage that Naindeep was arrested for DUI. 6. Fresno PD refuses to release their own test results, saying it will take weeks. It is a violation of Naindeep's civil rights under the US and CA Constitution, particularly while votes are being cast, for Fresno PD to rush to publish the DUI investigation but not the test results that would exonerate him. City leadership could get those results in hours, just like Naindeep did. There are two things happening here. First, Naindeep has been running a progressive campaign that holds police and city leadership accountable for their failed policy agenda. Second, there is a widely opposed multi-billion dollar real estate development at risk if Naindeep is elected. The people of Fresno are rallying behind Naindeep and this will backfire against the City and Fresno PD. They have only made his voice louder and more powerful. Sikhs are in Chardi Kala and more motivated than ever to defeat corruption in Fresno.
Through his work at @JakaraMovement, 2022 #IrvineAwards recipient Naindeep Singh is creating transformational change by empowering Sikh youth to reimagine and improve their communities. We're thrilled to support Naindeep Singh! irvineawards.org Art by @bykellymalka

Why did CSIS Remove this Foreign Interference Assessment? CSIS recently described India as the “second most pervasive” foreign interference actor in Canada and specifically warned of: • Indian officials, intelligence officers and proxies conducting interference • Efforts to undermine the Canada-based Khalistan movement • Surveillance of community groups • Visa pressure and travel “blacklists” • Threats to family members in India • Disinformation and media influence campaigns CSIS said one objective was to “exert control over ethnic, cultural or religious community groups.” For Sikh Canadians, this is directly about safety, freedom of expression and democratic participation. The page has now been taken down. Why was this information removed? Canadians deserve transparency.⁩

A Sikh trucker was followed into a Wyoming rest stop bathroom & stabbed 17 times in an unprovoked attack. Days earlier, DHS posted "Get off our roads, you don't know how to drive Mr. Singh." It deleted the post, then told NPR any link to the attack is "RECKLESS and FALSE." There has been a sharp rise in Anti-Sikh hate across the diaspora as racism and disinfo are amplified by both white nationalist and Hindu Nationalist ecosystems.
