On this unassuming trail near LA, bird watchers see something spectacular

At Bear Divide, just outside Los Angeles, you can see a rare spectacle of nature. This is one of the only places in the western United States where you can see bird migration during daylight hours.

While most birds are flying through Bear Divide along their migratory journeys, others stop and breed at the site…like Black-chinned Sparrows! 🩶

When attempting to predict bird movements at Bear Divide, we try to consider as many possible factors! Helpful imagery from @NOAASatellites allows us to watch cloud and fog cover change throughout the night when birds take flight.
