"Researchers conclude that in the Northwest Pacific, the total hadal area is four times larger than that of trenches alone – roughly equivalent to the size of Alaska, Texas and Montana combined."
Scientists from @UniofNewcastle in collaboration with @BritGeoSurvey have discovered that the deepest parts of our oceans- regions between 6,000 - 11,000M depth - could be far larger than previously thought.

#Staffa (staff-ay; island of pillars) was named by the #Vikings, who were astonished to see an island held up by huge, regular sticks or staves. They believed the regular #hexagonal columns could not have been formed by natural forces, and must be the work of #gods or #giants.😀
