The outdoor Sirens you may have just heard during the normal Tues at noon test, were built in the 1950's to communicate emergency info to the public. Today we have many ways to do the same, including the Wireless Emergency Alert System (WEA) which will be tested this Thursday.
Did you hear that? Sirens are 1-way #SF informs you about emergencies. On the 30th Anniversary of the Loma Prieta Earthquake (Oct 17), SF will test the Wireless Emergency Alert system. Alerts will be sent to all WEA-capable mobile devices in #SF. WEA Info: ow.ly/P8bZ50wFPpi
