The Cost of Being a Real Christian by J.C. Ryle
It costs something to be a real Christian, according to the standard of the Bible.
There are enemies to be overcome, battles to be fought, sacrifices to be made, an Egypt to be forsaken, a wilderness to be passed through, a cross to be carried, a race to be run. Conversion is not putting a person in an arm-chair and taking them easily to heaven. It is the beginning of a mighty conflict, in which it costs much to win the victory.

The best worker for God and for Christ is the man who is most certain and sure of his position before God.
If a man is uncertain of his salvation and position, how can he preach and recommend the gospel?

In every photo, every archival video, there are thousands of panicked innocents running for survival, or clutching their seats as their plane barrels towards a target, or crouching under smoke they canβt escape, or buried under rubble they canβt lift.
2,977 lives cut out of the last 25 years by 14 men doing exactly what Muhammad wouldβve wanted them to do.
Thatβs the apocalyptic death cult of Islam. Its ambitions and objectives have not changed.
But today, we remember the lives this demonic cult stole a quarter century ago.

Good morning, X.
Since the Mayor of New York City wonβt say it, I will.
On September 11, 2001, 19 Islamist terrorists murdered 2,977 innocent people on American soil.
Nearly 3,000 husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, and first responders. Burned alive. Crushed. Forced to jump.
That is not βa tragedy.β That is not βextremism with no name.β
That was jihad carried out in the name of Islam against the United States.
Never forget. Never water it down. Never apologize for telling the truth. πΊπΈ

Two years after its founding, the college was named after John Harvard, a learned English Protestant minister who had emmigrated to America and who helped to found the institution.
On his deathbed Harvard bequeathed half his estate and his entire library of 400 volumes to the fledgling college.

Biblically, a βpastor,β βelder,β and βbishopβ are 3 words for the same thing.
In the New Testament, the terms βelder,β (ΟΟΞ΅ΟΞ²ΟΟΞ΅ΟΞΏΟ), βbishop,β and βoverseerβ (αΌΟΞ―ΟΞΊΞΏΟΞΏΟ) are essentially interchangeable, referring to the same leadership role in the early church. βElderβ stems from the Jewish context and βbishopβ from the Greek term, both essentially meaning an overseer. The slight nuance is that qualifications for an βelderβ stipulate standards of character, emphasizing a wise, mature leader who is respected, while βoverseerβ and βpastorβ describe the functional aspects of leading and shepherding. The word βpastorβ originates from the Old French βpastourβ meaning βherdsman or shepherdβ, a derivative of virtually the same word in Latin.
The three-tiered ecclesiastical system that eventually separated bishops, elders, and pastoral roles only emerged in the 2nd century, specifically in the writings of Ignatius, who first distinguished the overseer as the sole head of the city-church. Earlier writings like 1 Clement and the Didache still used the terms interchangeably.
