One Philadelphia police officer is dead, and another is fighting for his life. Between them, 15 gunshot wounds. They answered a call for service and walked into an ambush. One father will never come home to his two children, while another family is praying their father of five survives. These officers showed up to serve and protect their community, and in return, they were met with a hail of bullets. How many more officers must be gunned down for doing their jobs before Congress acts? How many more families must have their lives shattered before we stop accepting violence against law enforcement as an inevitable part of the job? WE ARE FED UP WITH MOURNING OFFICERS WHO SHOULD HAVE COME HOME. Prayers and condolences are not enough when officers are being deliberately targeted simply for wearing the badge. The National Fraternal Order of Police calls on Congress to pass the Protect and Serve Act, establishing federal penalties for those who deliberately target law enforcement officers with violence. Our officers continue to answer the call. Congress must answer ours! We will not stay silent while officers are hunted down for doing the job they swore to do. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. PASS THE PROTECT AND SERVE ACT. Source: 6abc Action News. Used for informational purposes. @phillypolice #fop #protectandserve #phillypolice #lawenforcement #firstresponder

Today we remember Trooper Jim Saunders. Trooper Saunders died on Oct. 7, 1999, at 31, from gunshot wounds while conducting a traffic stop in Pasco. At the time of his death, Trooper Saunders had served 8-1/2 years with the Washington State Patrol. #GoneButNeverForgotten

A police officer fights back tears while recalling one of the hardest moments of his career: placing a child’s teddy bear alongside her as he prepared her body for transport. It was a small act of compassion in an unthinkable moment. Behind the badge are people who carry the weight of the calls they answer, long after the shift ends. If you’re struggling after a traumatic call or simply having a difficult time, you don’t have to carry it alone. Trooper Bradley Ritger, 29, made the ultimate sacrifice. He is the 9th Wisconsin State Trooper killed in the line of duty in recorded history. His service and sacrifice will not be forgotten. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and co-workers during this difficult time.

From the Wisconsin State Patrol It is with profound sadness that the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Wisconsin State Patrol announce the line-of-duty death of Trooper Bradley Ritger at the age of 29. On September 21, 2026, Trooper Ritger was responding to a traffic pursuit when he deployed a tire deflation device on a bridge deck west of the Dunn County/Eau Claire County line. As he moved to a position of cover, he fell from the bridge onto the roadway below. Despite lifesaving efforts and critical medical care, Trooper Ritger succumbed to his injuries on October 2, 2026. Trooper Ritger joined the Wisconsin State Patrol as a member of the 67th Recruit Class. He served in the Northwest Region for nearly five years, primarily in the Dunn County area. During his career, he attained certifications as a general law enforcement instructor, mobile field force team member and squad leader, and salvage vehicle inspector. Prior to his service with the Wisconsin State Patrol, Trooper Ritger served with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for three years. Trooper Ritger was a dedicated public servant whose strong work ethic and positive presence left a lasting impact on anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He approached every situation with professionalism, integrity and a genuine commitment to serving others. Whether assisting the public, supporting his fellow troopers, or taking on difficult challenges, he consistently demonstrated compassion and willingness to help wherever needed. His dedication to his family and unwavering commitment to his profession will not be forgotten. We extend our deepest sympathy to Trooper Ritger’s family, friends, loved ones and all who served alongside him. As the community mourns, the Wisconsin State Patrol has placed a law enforcement memorial vehicle at its Northwest Region Post in Eau Claire where the public is welcome to drop off cards, flowers, or other condolences. Out of respect for the family, no additional information will be shared at this time. Funeral arrangements are being made by the family. We kindly ask media and the public to respect their privacy and space for grieving.

#RememberTheFallen #LawEnforcement #Hero Kentucky State Trooper Hayden Phillips was brutally murdered during a traffic stop. The suspect was apprehended. Our hearts & prayers go out to his family blood & blue.💙 Story: wlky.com/article/trooper-sho… #ProtectandServe #DefendThePolice
END OF WATCH: Trooper Hayden Phillips pulled over a car on I-65 and was murdered. Warren County, Kentucky. Phillips, 30, was conducting a traffic stop just before 2pm Monday when an occupant of the vehicle shot and killed him. The car fled. A massive multi-agency search followed until Louisville Metro Police arrested the suspect that same evening: Emonnie Branch, 51, of Portland, Tennessee. KSP says they're naming him once, due to his "cowardly actions." Branch is charged with murder of a first responder, a capital offense under Kentucky law carrying death or life without parole. Phillips was a three-year KSP veteran, graduate of Cadet Class 103, who'd previously served with Russell Springs and Glasgow PD. He leaves a wife, three kids, and his parents. KSP Commissioner Col. Phillip Burnett Jr. didn't hedge at Monday night's press conference: "We will seek justice for Hayden. We will not rest until this happens." A traffic stop is routine until it isn't. Rest easy, Trooper Phillips. Every agency in that region ran this man down in less than a day. That's what "we don't rest" actually looks like. H/t WSMV / Li Cohen, Bowling Green Daily News
