Back to the Future™

"TOO DARN LOUD" - The Ultimate 80s Inside Joke! 🤘 This is not just a behind-the-scenes photo. This is 1985 movie history in one frame. On the left is Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly, and on the right is Huey Lewis - yes, THE Huey Lewis, on the set of Back to the Future (1985). Here's the story most people miss: Director Robert Zemeckis wanted Huey Lewis and The News to be Marty's favorite band. He asked Huey to write a song for the film. Huey's first attempt was rejected, but his second - "The Power of Love" - became a #1 Billboard Hot 100 smash and an Oscar nominee. He also gifted the film "Back in Time". As a thank you, Zemeckis gave Huey a cameo. See that yellow chair behind them? It says "HUEY LEWIS" - but in the film, he's almost unrecognizable as the bespectacled, stern-faced high school Battle of the Bands judge who stops Marty and The Pinheads mid-song and delivers one of the most iconic lines of the decade: "I'm afraid you're just too darn loud." The insane irony? The band was playing his own song - the demo version of "The Power of Love" that Marty was auditioning with! Fun fact: Michael wasn't even the original Marty. Eric Stoltz shot for weeks before being replaced, and 23-year-old Fox had to film Family Ties during the day and Back to the Future at night to pull it off. Two legends. One loud audition. One timeless film.
