Toby Fournier was notably absent from Duke’s season-opening win over Green Bay last night.

John Blackwell got right back to work after his disappointing regular season debut for Duke.
And that’s why he’ll bounce back quickly:

4 buckets and 1 brick for Duke in the season opening win over Army:

Duke was far from a finished product in the season opener against Army. That’s okay, nobody is in November.
Jon Scheyer’s only real disappointment was that he felt Duke lost itself during the game and played tight.
“We need to get back to just being true to who we are.”

Not pretty, but the right result.
5 observations from Duke’s 84-50 win over Army on opening night:

Blackwell finally got one to fall for his first Duke points. That had to feel like a 1000 pound weight off his chest.
Duke started the game 7-of-7 from the floor.
Went 5-of-20 from there and finished the first half 0-of-9 from 3.
More concerning, Army beat Duke 18-17 on the glass.
I suspect that halftime locker room will be unpleasant.
Extended rut for the Duke offense after a hot start.
Just 2 of their last 9 from the field.
Army’s zone has led to some ugliness on that end of the floor.
Duke is 0/6 from 3 but more concerning is giving up 5 offensive rebounds in the first 10 minutes.
Jon Scheyer won’t like that.
Your first regular season bucket of Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje’s Duke career is off an assist from John Blackwell
Manny Diaz did his best to shut down the Florida State rumors on Monday, stating that he’s happy where he is.
But it’s too early to celebrate. Diaz’s comments won’t change much if FAU decides to make him their focus:
