Things I will "go to the mattresses" on: EVERYONE can complete a marathon with proper training, EVERYONE is a reader when they expand their view of reading. #marathontraining #running #reading #graphicnovels #gaming #soapbox

Private, tax payer funded schools for the haves, and underfunded public schools for the have nots.
That’s their end goal.
Yesterday was one of those days that had me trying to think of a new line of work. All I could think of was teaching. Guess I need to hold on to what I love and throw the rest in a dumpster fire.

🚨 MUST WATCH: Eminem says Trump is brainwashing his base into thinking something great is going to happen …
“Nothing is happening!”
Listen to the end .. he says he gets flustered just talking about it.
I covered my desk in butcher paper so I can write on it since I'm forever searching for my many notepads and then losing said note once written. #teachersoftwitter

In the past 4 decades, most US schools use the majority of their time and resources on kids who misbehave and essentially ignore the kids who are trying to do the right thing.
What many refuse to believe is; when a school takes on too much, they will fail…miserably.

As a Reminder:
Reading does not occur in the eyeballs.
It occurs in the brain.
People can use their eyeballs to read.
People can use their fingers to read.
People can use their ears to read.
It is all reading!
Any definition otherwise is ableist.
Bless.

Teaching #MiddleSchool next year? Social conflict is part of the middle school experience, but it can get in the way of academics. We spoke to school counselor and author @Pfagell about what she sees in schools—and how adults can help.👇

#edutwitter #teachertwitter Yall hold up on all the listing. School hasn't been out long, and summer school's just starting. Can't it wait?
A couple students were spreading around that several 6th and 7th graders wished I were dead. Admin got on it but as a child apologized I wanted to tell it was days like this and crap like this that I wished it too.
Put off essay grading until Sunday night. Forgot one was about the deaths that inspired "Nightmare on Elm Street". Stayed up extra late to fill my mind with other thoughts before going to sleep.
7th & 8th have a 5par argumentative essay due tomorrow by midnight. MLA. 2 sources 7th, 3 for 8th. They've had 3wks. Did I push them too hard? Some wasted a lot of class time goofing. 2nd guessing myself. @yesthatteacher #teachersoftwitter
So I ended up skipping school yesterday after a deer crossed our path. Admin was 100% supportive and came out to help with my two kids.
Not a lot of joy for me lately in teaching. I even cried today. So hoping to find the joy again to see my why past all the shadows.
For probably the first time this semester, my plans have already been submitted before my plan on Monday. I'm actually "ready." You're welcome OK for any delays or cancelations tomorrow.
I'm going to puke.
Quick-write assignment "Freedom Is..."
A: "Who was that guy that freed the slaves?"
B: "Martin Luther King"
Me: no..just..no
This pd sucks. Ok not really but I'm in my feels. Also teacher payday is not til Friday. We are running out of everything and I'm hungry and that is an anxiety trigger.
