This scene captures the Western Express Highway towards Bandra Reclamation.
Look closely and you’ll spot the iconic double-decker BEST buses, kaali-peeli taxis, a vintage jeep and, in the distance, the twin towers of Mount Mary Basilica.
There was virtually nothing obstructing the view of Mount Mary Hill back then. Today, it is almost lost in a jungle of skyscrapers.

Mumbai’s ongoing makeover is the biggest in its recent history. Bandra is where it’s the most drastic. Residential and commercial capacity is up some 2x, 3x and much more to come with zero addition in public infrastructure. Mumbai Metro is WIP.
In fact, that most reliable public transport of BEST buses has been almost replaced with share a rickshaws. Probably good, because BEST buses can’t fit in our roads (but, strangely enough, trucks and mixers can).
From a quiet suburb with Carters, Band Stand, Joggers, it’s become a traffic choked, influencer infested..oh sorry, a vibrant shopping and night life destination. And it’s only 2026. Wait another 10 yrs. The real estate has already started stagnating.
All of Bandra defaced by @TawdeRitu & Bhamla Foundation with illegal hoardings of a Beach clean up.... Using plastic, paper to make such illegal hoardings thanks to blessings of Ritu Tawde @mybmc that full Vandre is defaced...

A fire broke out at a popular restaurant inside VN Sphere Mall, on Linking Road, Bandra West, at around 5:30 am on Friday, October 30, triggering a major firefighting operation.
The fire affected the restaurant's kitchen and dining area, which were engulfed in smoke and flames.
