Southern Alberta stays dry as snow and dangerously cold weather hit the eastern prairies this week. The province by province day to day outlook is at Rural Roots Canada. Stay warm, stay safe, stay up to date.. The cold, hard facts: ruralrootscanada.com/prairie…

How did I miss this? Back on June 18, 2025, Goldy Hyder, President and CEO of the Business Council of Canada (BCC), delivered a powerful testimony before the Canadian Senate. He represents 170 businesses in Canada, that employ more than 2 million Canadians, and account for roughly 50% of the country's GDP. He didn’t mince words. Canada is failing big time.

Proud to stand with law-abiding gun owners in Cape Breton — people who are not only safe and responsible with firearms, but who are also stewards of conservation and our outdoor heritage.

As Liberals target lawful hunters, farmers, and sport shooters, Conservatives will focus on the real problem:

A decade of Liberal hug-a-thug catch-and-release laws that let violent criminals and gangs cycle back onto our once-safe streets.

Observed pyrocumulus clouds atop the Edith Lake wildfire, north of Swan Hills on Wednesday. Given windy, unstable conditions expected ahead of a cold front later today, pyrocumulonimbus development could be possible atop any intense wildfires in northern Alberta. #abfire

22 years ago today this man saved my life. Diagnosed with cancer and given 1-3 years to survive I’m still trying my best to make each day count. Thank you Dr. Beart, Dr. Lenz and @uscnorris That impact led to the creation of @FCSNnational Cancer is the LEADING cause of #Firefighter deaths

James Moore: "It is absurd to me that the Parliament isn't sitting. After 9/11, Parliament was brought back right away. The biggest economic threat to Canada in my lifetime... and Parliament isn't sitting because the Liberals are choosing their leader. It's not defensible."

#Aviation goes 24/7 🔥🚁 While CAL FIRE helicopters now regularly fly night firefighting missions, we’re making history with our first-ever 24-hour helibase. State-of-the-art #CALFIRE, federal and local aircraft are working around the clock to protect our communities and build containment on the #LAFires. This is a game-changer, allowing us to operate continuously at a large scale - even after the sun goes down. #CALFIRE #WildfireResponse #24HourOps #AerialFirefighting

I'm not a pilot but I have to imagine that you have to be an absolute BADASS to skim the water in what is basically a flying tank, over and over all day long, and do it with the accuracy it takes to scoop up 1,000+ gallons of water and not have an accident. My hat is off to these pilots!!

It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the tragic loss of a brave Alberta Wildfire firefighter, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues affected by this profound loss.

A concerning satellite image of Alberta today reveals there's very little snow across much of the boreal - highly unusual for this time of year. 🔥💣🚨 There was very little moisture received across the north this winter, where longer-term drought already exists. Barring any major precip events, we are setting up for the potential of significant wildfire activity come the first hot and windy spell, as there is little snow to melt. This could kick off the season sometime in April. Even in the absence of drought, strong wind can easily drive flames through the upper canopy of the forest during the "spring dip", which occurs during the window of time between snow melt, and green-up. This year, the added effect of ongoing drought could support truly intense fire behaviour, given ignitions and favourable fire weather (hot, dry, windy). Most early season ignitions are human-caused, and therefore preventable. We'll need to be very careful this spring, and perhaps consider forest area closures should extreme fire weather occur for prolonged periods. A final wintry blast is likely for southern Alberta in the coming days, which will bring some much-needed moisture to the mountains and adjacent plains, but the north will largely miss out on it. Once we warm up again, fire season will likely begin. How severe it gets will depend largely on human activity and weather conditions. #abfire #abstorm

My take on Justin Trudeau’s Fake “Independent” Senate is contained in this story (includes @CBCTheHouse segment audio clip): I had a lot to say in this interview! Many of my comments are not in the story, including:… #SenCA cbc.ca/news/politics/10-year…

Banff crews are responding to a water main break at Bow River Bridge that has cut water supply to the south side. Crews are working to isolate the break. Please avoid the area: Cave Avenue, Spray Avenue and Banff Avenue, due to water on surface and emergency operations.

A great look at the Fire Train being used on the River Road East Fire outside Paradise, Montana. BNSF railway and Montana Rail link have trains that can function in this manner. Love to see this kind of stuff. #wildfire #mtfire #Missoula #Helena #Bozeman #trains

Here's another outrageous decision by the Trudeau govt🤦: removing Vimy Ridge, Terry Fox, the War Memorial & the Famous Five from the 🇨🇦passport. This demonstrates one thing clearly: the PM doesn’t respect our history, or understand the everyday lives & priorities of Cdns. WATCH:
