Additionally, we would have on average around 150 new bank charters per year. I don’t think we have had a total of 150 new charters since 2008.
We need more community banks, not fewer. Before the 2008 financial crisis: New banks were frequently approved with $5–12 million (sometimes as low as $7–10 million). After the Great Financial Crisis and Dodd-Frank: Regulators roughly doubled typical requirements (to around $20 million or more). Analyses put average or median post-crisis figures in the $25–32 million range. Throughout the past decade, industry advisers and regulators have consistently treated roughly $20 million as the practical floor for most community banks, with many proposals required to raise more (often $25–50 million depending on size, market, and risk). There has been no general reduction in this expectation. Every previous wave of consolidation has been met with de novo bank creation. Community banks have always “disappeared” but new ones have always been formed to take their place. The dearth of community banks is not organic. It is bureaucratically engineered.

🎯Yes, the decline in the number of America’s community banks was bureaucratically engineered.

And current bank regulation makes it extremely difficult for more Americans to do so. We need more community banks. Barriers to entry needs to be lowered.
Few realize what an incredible life hack it is to have access to an actual banker who can just make things happen for you.

Big bank: "Your call is important to us. Estimated wait time: 52 minutes." Community bank: "Hey it's Marge. Your truck payment bounced. I moved $40 over from savings. You owe me a pie."

Unsurprising.
While truckers nationally listed fuel prices as their #1 issue, Louisiana truckers listed lawsuit abuse and insurance cost as theirs! #lalege

We need *more* community banks, not fewer! (HT @aglanceaskance 😉)
When community banks are strong, Main Street is stronger. The Main Street Capital Access Act, led by Chairman @RepFrenchHill and @RepAndyBarr, removes barriers to new bank formation and gives local lenders more flexibility to support the families, entrepreneurs, and small businesses they know best. financialservices.house.gov/…

Broke the record and broke his belt the same day.
October 19th. 2019 seven years ago today Joe Burrow broke the @LSUfootball single season TD passing record in the Tigers 36-13 win with 29 in only Game 7 of the season. He finished with an incredible 60 a record that likely will stand forever...
