“It’s no coincidence that the largest hacks in the history of the world have happened over the past months. We saw it with Binance, we had it with Bitget, we had it with Bybit.” - @idobn, Blockaid Co-Founder and CEO, on @CNBC this morning. - Binance: $6.3B - Bybit: $1.5B - Bitget: $350M Three exchanges share one root cause, with each drain traced back to an operational security failure that led to unauthorized signing.
Yesterday’s $6.3B Binance hack was the largest in history. With advancements in AI, over the last year exploits have continued to get larger and increasingly sophisticated. AI-powered exploits are only going to accelerate, and detection has to run in real time to keep up. I joined @CNBC this morning to break it down:

Six months ago we launched our Risk Exposure product on one belief: tracing stolen funds after the fact is not enough. Exposure has to be flagged in real time, while the funds are still in flight. Yesterday, our AI models flagged the Binance drain at 20:26 UTC, under two minutes after the first sweep and before any public report, within seven seconds after that detection, the findings had propagated into Risk Exposure. We are actively tracing fund movement across nine chains and counting, from the first collector through each hop to where the funds sit now. Use our tool to trace the funds and check your own addresses against the 72 tied to the attack: binance-hack-funds.blockaid.…
Introducing Blockaid's Risk Exposure: A real-time onchain compliance solution that lets organizations monitor addresses, transactions, and act the moment they're exposed to illicit funds. Powered by Blockaid’s first-party signals to make policies programmatically enforceable.

CryptoBilis update We've been made aware, through responsible disclosure, of a single hardware implant in a Trezor Safe 5 device bought from the reseller CryptoBilis in August 2026. No CryptoBilis buyer has reported a loss of funds to us. IMPORTANT: If you bought a Trezor from CryptoBilis from March 2026 onwards, we know this is unsettling. Here’s what to do: Already using it? Move your funds to a newly created wallet with a new seed as soon as possible. Do not reuse the old seed in any wallet, hardware or software. If you don’t have another secure hardware wallet available, we recommend temporarily migrating your funds to a software wallet or an exchange you are familiar with. Not set up yet? Don’t set it up, and never enter your existing wallet backup on it. We haven’t received the device to confirm this report, but based on the customer’s description, we’re treating it as credible and sharing it now so customers who purchased a Trezor via CryptoBilis can secure their funds as a precaution. Our security team will examine the device as soon as it arrives. On October 9, 2026, we removed CryptoBilis as a reseller following reports of tampered Ledger devices sold through it. Since then, we have been inspecting Trezor devices that customers bought from CryptoBilis and have found no signs of tampering on any of the four devices we’ve received so far. NEVER share your wallet backup (recovery phrase) with anyone. Trezor Support will never ask for it. If you are affected by this incident, please keep your CryptoBilis device and contact Support to receive a new Trezor hardware wallet: trezor.io/support#open-chat We're investigating and will post updates here as soon as we know more. Thank you to the customer who reported this through our responsible disclosure program, and to @SEAL_911 for working alongside our teams on the response. Reports and engagement like this help us protect everyone else. For more information, visit our blog: trezor.io/blog/news/implant-…

~$3B frozen thanks to transparent technology + industry-wide coordination. Our investigators are actively identifying additional opportunities to disrupt.
Update: The current verified total frozen amount is around $3 billion. Our teams continue to work closely with law enforcement, issuers, blockchain intelligence firms and industry partners to trace and freeze additional assets. We will only share confirmed figures and will provide further updates as more verified information becomes available. User funds are safe.

Thanks you for this Chainalysis. According to them, the DPRK accounts for almost 90% of documented crypto hack losses this year. That should make it a common enemy for everyone in crypto. Even the Trump family’s extraction looks small by comparison. I expect them to keep targeting platforms one by one with military coordination, and they’ve probably already spent months preparing their next operations. The people with serious money in this industry should sit down together and start funding the people fighting drains, breaches and hacks. There’s money for every paid shill and every idiot with a catchy slogan, yet the people working to stop everyone getting robbed still have to fight for support.

Saw a few discussions about size of hack, why impact to bitcoin price is small, etc. 👇 $6.3 billion is the biggest in USD terms, but not in BTC terms. MtGox was 650,000 BTC! Other important numbers to consider: % of bitcoin (in relation to BTC total supply), ie, market impact. MtGox is big there again at 5%+. Number of users impacted, and % of user assets impacted. MtGox (the largest CEX at the time) and FTX (not small) were all near 100% of users and their asseets. Most important: Who is impacted? Does the platform cover it all? (only one victim), as in recent two CEX cases and Binance. Obviously, still a major disaster for the industry, Binance (and me). It hurts, but we survive. Most importantly, we protect our users. (image from @MatthewRoszak)
One of the largest crypto exchanges gets hacked for $6 billion and bitcoin sold off less than 5%? Bullish.

Binance has begun recovering affected assets for users and continues to work with law enforcement, issuers, blockchain intelligence firms and industry partners to trace, freeze and recover additional funds. The company has already publicly committed to cover losses through company funds in the prior announcement. Binance has already reserved over $6.34B of company funds to cover this incident. $5B of these funds are already held in the exact token assets that were impacted. We are completing the purchase of the remaining amount by buying token assets through market channels and OTC channels. We are doing this to match the format of the remaining token assets and address any asset shortfalls. This step can take longer because some tokens may have low liquidity and OTC settlement also takes time. We will share more progress as soon as we can. These figures do not include frozen or protected assets, which remain subject to ongoing recovery and verification. Currently, $3bn has been frozen, with thanks to our industry partners. We are working with partners and law enforcement to recover the frozen assets. We will continue to use company resources to cover confirmed shortfall and will provide further verified updates as recovery efforts progress. Ultimately, all user funds will be verified publicly through our Proof of Reserves. We will weather this storm. Thank you for the support.
