WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE A HYPNOTIST Thread 1. When you are a hypnotist you usually know why people do the things they do. And not the reasons they talk about at parties but the REAL reasons.

Here’s the secret: Women have difficulty determining the relative severity of a task or requirement. For women, every entry in the task register takes up the same space. “Get chicken” and “buy milk” together take up twice the mental space as “get groceries.”
When I was married I learned a lesson about the difference between men and women’s brains. When describing a task, the majority of men would state the result of the task. For example: going to work, making dinner, replacing the hot water heater. My ex wife and the majority of her friends mentally broke those events into minute tasks. For example: making dinner was broken down into determining meal, defrosting the meat, chopping each ingredient, etc. When I made dinner she would claim I cut corners because I never verbally or emotionally broke it down. She would never acknowledge all the stress she placed on herself was self inflicted.

I finished editing a transcript of the first session of my Learn Hypnotic Persuasion training. Want to know what it's about? "Welcome to the Learning Hypnotic Persuasion training. I've taught this class a number of times now, in groups and one-on-one, and every time it's a great experience for everyone involved. Some of you know me from sessions, some of you know me by reputation, and some of you just thought this hypnosis stuff sounded cool. However you got here, I'm glad you're here.

Oh and one more thing. As we practice on each other over the coming weeks, you may notice that some things that used to bug you don't bug you so much anymore. When we get into the bigger change work in pairs, your partner will ask what's bothering you, you'll go through a process, and the next day you'll think, "Huh, I don't have that problem anymore." People who've taken this class before know what I mean!

Absolutely. I’m all in on grokbot. I have 6 bots already. It’s saved me about 50 hours of work in 3 days.
Grokbot is by far the best experience with AI. It actually feels like it's on your side. It's clear and direct. It can actually do what you want. Refreshing break from the bloated, condescending slog that others tend to be.

The only question is how it will affect elite colleges. Every other educational setup has little value in the AI world other than socialization (which can go positive or negative) and babysitting.
I actually believe school as we know it is obsolete. Everything kids are learning is so easily accessible that they can make an app to learn it if they need to. That’s not the future, that’s actually AT THIS VERY MOMENT. And it will only progress. I’m eternally grateful I didn’t waste my kids’ childhoods away from them.

…said the man IN NEW YORK CITY
I'm in my 40s. I'm a lawyer. My wife is a lawyer. We both work full time. We cannot afford the house my parents purchased on a single electrician's income in their 30s. We cannot afford the house my immigrant grandparents purchased on a single MTA bus driver's salary in their 30s. They had SIX CHILDREN. For 30 years, politicians in Washington & their oligarch allies convinced regular people that this was just about avocado toast and fancy coffee. In reality, this is end-stage capitalism. Everyone is stuck in place. It's impossible to buy a home. It's too costly to move. We work too much to have passion projects. We don't have enough savings to start our own businesses. We can't afford to go without healthcare to do it. Thanks for writing this article @troy_closson. Would be very happy to discuss further. nytimes.com/2026/10/25/nyreg…

What’s it called when you’ve read a bunch of books on something but haven’t been able to turn the knowledge into a usable skill?

If we get AI-driven universal high income, women will select men for size, brutishness, and looks instead of intelligence and productivity. Horribly dysgenic. So we require gene editing to avoid devolving into chimps. Fortunately it’s reasonably likely.
Gene editing at scale will be the breakthrough that makes humans multi planetary and able to colonize the stars

Why does everyone think AI has better access to reality than humans do?
JUST IN: AI executives are turning to religion to teach artificial intelligence right from wrong
