You are correct. These groups are largely unregulated and often lack proper arms and training. In some cases, they resort to jungle justice against innocent people. If they are organised into a regulated community defence system, properly trained, armed, and held accountable, it could make a significant difference.
The Bandits, terrorists, informants and their collaborators would have to think twice before planning on attacking any community that they know can defend itself.

"I was not prompted (to apologise). I knew of this issue about 31 years ago when I was serving in Enugu, and I researched deeply into it," says Maj. Gen. Ahmed Taiwo (Rtd), son of the late Col. Ibrahim Taiwo, while speaking on the Asaba Massacre.

Imagine communities terrorised by bandits and terrorists being legally permitted to organise a regulated community defence system, including licensed arms ownership under strict state supervision.
This is not a call for everyone to carry guns. It is a proposal for a controlled, community-based framework with a recognised council, proper screening, licensing, training, accountability and clear rules of engagement, working in coordination with the security agencies.
A serious national conversation on regulated community self-defence is something we should look at.
I hope the state Police will take the lead on this issue when they eventually come on board.
Just imagine this thing terrorising an entire state. If the state had allowed responsible, regulated arms ownership, perhaps this madness would have been checked long ago.
Sometimes, when the law fails to protect the people, the debate shifts to whether citizens should be empowered to defend themselves.

I hope you can open your mind and read the works of other sects like the Shiites, Quranists, Neo-Mu'tazilites, etc., and not hide behind the fear of having your beliefs corrupted. Just open your mind and read even Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris. God doesn't fear any arguments.
I have sent reminders and prayers every year for the past 23 years since my father passed away. I share the message with all my siblings and a few of his grandchildren. I have done the same for my late brother since he passed away in 2014.
I do this every year to honour their memories and, of course, to earn them additional prayers beyond the ones we offer for them daily.
I think we never truly get over the loss of our loved ones; we simply learn to adjust to their absence.
May the souls of all our departed loved ones rest in peace. Amin.
My brother died in 2022. I remember him every single day. Yesterday was the 4th anniversary of his transition.
I didn't want to post anything about him so as not to trigger grief in the family again, especially for my mum. She asked me for yesterday's date and I told her but left her room immediately. She was moody all through but pretended like she didn't remember. I deliberately avoided any discussion with her about him cos she's still recovering from her stroke which she had after his demise.
At what point do we actually move on?
Does remembrance actually heal or do more damage to grieving families?
This should’ve been the way way forward long ago. This bandits and terrorists are also scared of death.
See ba! We can’t continue to be cowards. Wallahi, we cannot continue to live in fear. How can a few people with guns continue to terrorize a whole community of thousands of people? What are we afraid of? Death? The same death that you’ll face sooner or later? If you say they are armed, why don’t we get licensed arms too since the law permits? Not every time umrah, Benz, iPhone, gold, super wax, and what have you. Let every household follow the legal process and acquire a shotgun also, protect yourselves and ask Almighty Allah to protect you. Sai kana da rai za ka ji dadin duniar fa. Mobilize members of the community, raise funds, create a task force, hire vigilantes, pay security agents if you have to, install CCTVs, fish out informants and ensure they face the wrath of the law ko dan gidan uban waye. Secure every household, every street, every community, every school, every estate, secure everywhere. If the government comes in, fine, that’s what they are voted for. If they don’t, we shall meet at the polling unit, but let’s be alive first.

We honestly didn’t do enough for Jamila. We should have raised our voices louder and kept the pressure on until something was done.
Sadly, while she remains in captivity, another set of residents was abducted from the same Millennium City in Kaduna last night.
It’s painful that we keep moving from one kidnapping story to another without seeing the urgency these cases deserve. These are people with families waiting for them to return home safely.
We must do better. Jamila and everyone still in captivity deserve our attention, our voices and urgent action
Sadly she reportedly told her husband that even if she returns home, she fears she may not survive the ordeal.
Despite’s multiple Paid ransom and demands met Jamila’s abductors refused to let her go.
Wallhi is like the media don’t care too much about her, the energy is very low.
May Allah keep her safe wherever she is. 🙏🏽

I truly pity the social media clowns who mistake political contests among the political class for real-life rivalries. No matter how toxic their politics becomes, these politicians always have meeting points. They are neighbours. They are in-laws. They are business partners. They are friends. And, most importantly, they share a common dream: to remain at the top of the food chain. They will even be quick to sacrifice their diehard supporters who cross the line in waging political wars against opponents they have mistaken for their principal’s sworn enemies.

@Morris_Monye it’s not ignorance that makes people like you to refer to us as non-state actors but sheer bigotry infused in you and your likes right from the womb!
There’s no way you’ll tell me you don’t know that painting a whole Ethnic group as a non state actor was out of ignorance!

It’s okay to admit you are ignorant. Fullo/Pullo refers to the Fulani. They are an ethnic group, not a non-state armed group. You obviously don’t know what a non-state actor means. They are as entitled to employment in any social setting as anyone else. This is akin to someone referring to you, an Igbo man, as an IPOB militant simply because of your ethnic origin.
The Fulani have been unfairly stereotyped by bigots like you, who lump every Fulani person together as an “armed non-state actor” or a criminal. The VP’s post here humanises them and portrays them as law-abiding citizens with equal rights to employment and the constitutional freedom of association. You are quick to dish out bigotry but always rush to play the victim when your ethnic group is stereotyped in a similar fashion.
