Leaders experience emotional distress when they can’t help with staffing and work overload. So focus also on giving staff voice, justice and fairness, better conditions, self rostering, improving teamwork, better supervision meetings and education and training. That helps.

After lots of work from @AcpsNuh @NUHACPRandI @acpleadership and others we have now launched a framework to support a resourced and standardised approach to the development and career progression of NUH Advanced practitioners.

We cannot be effective agents or leaders of change in health & care without addressing issues of power. All inequality & all exclusion is an imbalance of power. Read the excellent "It's all about power" report by @SMKcampaigners: smk.org.uk/wp-content/upload… Thanks @CollaborateCIC

The Ugly: the impact of the pandemic on HCWs. COVID has been tough on HCWs in anaesthesia and ICU and many of our community are not OK, which is entirely understandable when you consider what we have experienced: 10/15

Yesterday I posted a graphic from @EmmaNeuropsych on how pandemic fatigue feels. It spoke to so many people. Emma has published a free eBook on how to stay calm in a global pandemic. It is a wonderful combination of science, wisdom & beautiful sketches: hachette.co.uk/wp-content/up…

Over the next couple of weeks, we will be posting a little bit of information about our Clinical Nurse Educators in Critical Care. We all have our own base units but work across campus. You may not have met us all so it will be nice to put a face to the names! @NUHCriticalCare

Very exciting day on E14 as Level 1 beds open. Wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing @NUHSurgery DLT, the best ever matrons Jo and Michelle and the fab nursing teams on D57, E12, C30, CICU, ACU and the Park that have mentored and coached my nurses for the last 4 weeks.

Word of the day is ‘betwittered’: full of nervous apprehension and excitement. As opposed to ‘betwattled’, which is to be befuddled and bewildered.
