We keep building. For the past five months, we’ve been continuously working on development, adding new businesses, and growing our outreach. Our goal is to make Zcash accepted around the world. Since day one, we’ve been moving forward entirely on our own, with zero financial support. If you’d like to support our work and help make Zcash more useful in everyday life, you can donate to us.

The commander who sent the mercenary into battle has now joined the very conflict he started. A planned and coordinated war. God bless 😀

Welcome back, big boss! We’ve been waiting for you! 😄
It’s time to end the USAID of Zcash.

We’re building a quiz platform for the university tour and for broader use across the Zcash ecosystem. If we complete it in time, we’ll actively use it during the university tour. We’ll also make it available to other communities that want to use it at their events. We’re continuing to build.

I'm asking this in all seriousness. Let's say I'm a whale holding a large amount of ZEC, and I've formed an alliance with two other major whales. Together, we control 4 million ZEC in voting power. In the previous voting round, approximately 2 million votes were cast in total. Now, suppose the three of us, as major companies or individuals, form an alliance and submit funding proposals totaling $5–6 million across 4–5 different projects to the Coinholder vote. If we use our own voting power to get these proposals approved, is there any mechanism that could prevent us from doing so? In other words, are there any concrete safeguards in place to prevent a few large ZEC holders from reaching an agreement among themselves, controlling funding decisions, and determining how millions of dollars in funding are allocated?

I’ve read the ZIP, and I understand that there is a veto mechanism, but I’m not sure under what conditions it can be used. Maybe I’m misunderstanding something. If anyone has more information, I’d appreciate it if you could share it.

I see the recent events in Zcash this way: a conflict between the people of the favelas and the people living in luxury residences. :) These debates aren’t happening one, two, or three years ago. They’re happening right now. Why? Because Zcash’s price has risen so much, mining farms have started to emerge, and the ETF approval has attracted more people and organizations looking to make MORE money. Of course, everyone wants to make money. There’s nothing surprising about that. But as the money grows, so do the competing interests, power struggles, and conflicts. I don’t know, I guess we’re heading toward Metropole as Zcash. :) Haha

Let’s celebrate the 10th anniversary. NOT JUST THE WEALTHY, ALL OF US! :)
In its first 10 years, Zcash has successfully activated 10 major network upgrades. Overwinter laying the foundations, Sapling making shielded payments possible on mobile, Blossom halving block times, NU5 eliminating trusted setups, to NU6.3 Ironwood strengthening supply integrity through formal verification. Built to evolve. Designed to endure 🛡️

A serious conflict is brewing within Zcash, and it’s only going to escalate. On one side, the ZCG establishment that has been around for years; on the other, a new generation of passionate Coinholders. It’s both comical and sad. Some of the things I said in the past helped prevent certain things from happening. I don’t even care anymore. I’m going to speak freely.

I think one of the main reasons ZecMap was rejected is that some of the major whales have strong connections and friendships within the community.

If you want to contribute to Zcash, share your thoughts here. The official Zcash account doesn't have to make posts that please everyone. Please don't try to turn disagreements into a war. Constructive discussions benefit us all. :)
I’m confused by the outrage from certain people around Crosslink. At this point, it’s an R&D effort. There’s no activation proposal or ZIPs, and it isn’t on the mainnet roadmap. It’s a prototype design that we’re testing and iterating on. Research and experimentation are good for Zcash. Permissionless innovation means people can explore ideas without first securing everyone’s agreement, and the Zcash community should encourage that. Good-faith debate is how Zcash improves, and we welcome scrutiny of Crosslink’s design, assumptions, and tradeoffs. We’re working on Crosslink because we think stronger protection against reorg and rollback attacks may be a necessary security upgrade for Zcash at some point. AI or other forces could eventually challenge the security assumptions behind PoW, and our thesis is that a hybrid model may offer stronger security than either pure PoW or pure PoS. Shielded Labs’ mission is to protect the long-term security of Zcash. It’s a common theme across all our projects, including Crosslink, the Network Sustainability Mechanism (NSM), and Epoch. We also demonstrated that commitment by bringing on Taylor Hornby as a security researcher to use AI tools to identify potential vulnerabilities, which uncovered the Orchard counterfeiting bug. We want to address potential risks before they become urgent, and recent events have shown the value of being forward-looking. The burden of proof is on us. If we want Crosslink included in a future network upgrade, it’s our responsibility to demonstrate consensus. But that’s still a long way off. For now, we’re focused on improving the design, incorporating user feedback, and working toward a production-ready implementation for the community and coinholders to evaluate. There’s still a lot of work to do before we’d propose Crosslink for mainnet, and we plan to run it on testnet for an extended period of time. If you disagree with Crosslink, challenge the design and help us understand what we’re missing. We all want Zcash to succeed. Let’s focus on strengthening and protecting Zcash as a whole by giving research and experimentation room to happen. If you're interested in learning more about Crosslink or participating in the incentivized testnet, feel free to DM me.

Crosslink is a proposed hybrid PoW/PoS upgrade for Zcash. By standardizing staking bonds into incremental powers of 10, observers are prevented from easily inferring individual staking patterns, preserving privacy and maintaining accountability among finalizers.

#Zcash #ZODL #Crypto #OpenSource #privacy

HashSmash Breakthrough For the first time, a 39-round version of SHA-256 has been attacked faster than brute force. Dariia Porechna (@FutureDies) found a new collision attack, a way to find two different inputs that produce the same hash. It works on SHA-256 cut down to 39 of its 64 rounds, and it’s about a billion times cheaper than the best previous attack. Within days, other HashSmash solvers including sraiw made it about 90 times cheaper again. Full SHA-256, which secures Bitcoin, is still safe. Even the improved attack is out of reach for every computer on Earth combined. Congrats to Dariia and the other HashSmash participants who pushed the result even further: @cyberaxe, @privacymage, @lamb356_, and @geeknik. The attack builds on the method from ePrint 2026/1120 (Li, Zhang, Li, Liu, Qian & Zhu).
SHA-256 is not broken, but its security margin lost 1 more round this year: Last week I found a collision attack on reduced 39-round that improves prior art by over 30 bits and the first differential attack on that round better than generic search on @yukonresearch Hashsmash board. The attack rests on the same method as prior art ePrint 2026/1120 with new insights that first 2 state words could remain free, allowing a critical condition at step 16 rebuilt as a claw-search problem rather than a probabilistic filter. Took days of watching SAT logs, burning cores and arguing with Claude on what's possible to get a result close to generic search. Since my initial submission, other hashsmash participants sraiw, @cyberaxe, @privacymage, @lamb356_ and @geeknik pushed it down by over 6.5 bits, currently estimated at 118.15 bits. The tree of submissions is hard to follow, so I put the construction, insights and numbers into a blog and am working on detailed technical report. It's fascinating to see an initial structural observation develop into an improvement in the reduced-round collision frontier within days. AI is now a real aid in cryptanalysis and open collaboration speeds it up.

NU7 is finally activating on Zcash! Zakura 1.7.0 activates it on height 3543405, which is the evening of November 5 for us Americans. Blocks will occur three times faster in Zcash. Other changes like NSM funding and retiring the Sprout pool appear in this upgrade as well.

As the Zcash Türkiye team, we are organizing a Campus Tour that will initially cover 10 universities. We plan to give each participating student $5 worth of ZEC to help them experience Zcash for the first time. Initially, we were planning to distribute the funds manually. However, we really liked the QR code-based reward system we saw at the last event. So, we wanted to ask whether Zodl or Vizor would be interested in supporting us with this initiative. We estimate that the tour could generate around 700–900 new wallet downloads and first ZEC transactions. Here’s our proposal: we would provide $5 worth of ZEC to each student, and you could contribute an additional $5. This would allow us to give each student a total of $10 worth of ZEC. We could distribute the rewards through QR codes instead of handling everything manually, making the process much easier and more engaging. The QR code design could be entirely up to you. Our main goal is to make it easy for students to set up their wallets and complete their first ZEC transactions smoothly. @vizorwallet @zodl_app @zodl_support

Bitcoin, with its 21 million coin cap, is a sustainable store of value. Ethereum, with EIP-1559, is a sustainable medium of exchange. Zcash is about to have both. It already has a 21 million cap, and with ZIP-235’s upcoming transaction fee burn, it becomes a sustainable medium of exchange.
