Dear @GarethBaconMP I have today signed a petition concerning the Royal Charter renewal for the BBC. I do not use any BBC services and see no reason I should pay for it.

So, I came back to #SWTOR a few months ago. Played from launch, but deleted account some time ago. I'm really glad I decided to come back. New account, new characters and I am thoroughly enjoying myself. This latest patch was excellent! (Apart, maybe for one, quite janky bit which I won't mention here) The story pacing was really, really good. Immersive in a way we have not seen recently. Well done all at #Broadsword.

Happy #WorldVapeDay all. So, after nearly 16 years vaping, what have I learned? 1. Vapes got me off cigarettes. 2. The range of flavours helped immensely. 3. So-called Public health tell me my lived experience is invalid. 4. So-Called Public Health tell me, despite my lived experience, that Vapes are as bad as smoking. 5. I no longer believe so-called Public Health and treat every pronouncement with extreme scepticism.

So, @X decided to move Pro from premium to premium+ . Since I really like using pro, I decided not to continue my premium sub. No, the price went from £7 per month to £30 per month. So I've cancelled the whole thing.

TOBACCO VANGUARD Not for all and sundry. Pouches: The Product They Can Ban By M. Reuven There is now a small but telling fact on the regulatory ledger. More countries have chosen to ban nicotine pouches outright than have ever managed to ban cigarettes themselves. This is not an oversight, nor a temporary imbalance awaiting correction. It is a symptom of how modern regulation now operates, and of what it prefers not to confront. The cigarette remains the most comprehensively documented consumer product in modern history. Its risks are known, priced, taxed, litigated, and ultimately absorbed into public finance. Excise receipts are predictable, enforcement routines settled, and consumption patterns stable enough to underwrite long-term fiscal planning. The cigarette is not admired, but it is understood. It has a place in the administrative order, and so it is managed rather than prohibited. Nicotine pouches, by contrast, arrive without history. They generate no smoke, no litter of the familiar kind, and no inherited settlement between state, industry, and treasury. They produce no excise architecture worth the name, and no established moral theatre in which officials can perform concern while collecting revenue. They are therefore free of obligation, and free of protection. This explains the apparent severity. Where cigarettes are hedged about with regulation, pouches are simply struck out. Belgium bans them. The Netherlands follows. Germany declares them a novel food and thereby unsaleable. Others route them into medicinal channels where no products are approved, a procedural ban masquerading as caution. Meanwhile, cigarettes continue to be sold almost everywhere on earth, including in jurisdictions that describe themselves, without irony, as advancing towards a smoke-free future. The absurdity is not accidental. Regulation is no longer primarily concerned with harm, which is too blunt and too honest a criterion. It is concerned with legibility. Cigarettes are legible to the state. They sit neatly within tax codes, compliance regimes, and enforcement rituals. Nicotine pouches do not. They are small, discreet, difficult to moralise visually, and awkward to integrate into existing administrative apparatuses. They disrupt the aesthetic and fiscal order, and so they are removed. There is also a deeper comfort at work. Cigarettes belong to the past, and therefore can be tolerated as a managed vice. Pouches belong to the present, and worse, to the future. They suggest substitution rather than abstinence, continuity rather than rupture. For a regulatory culture increasingly invested in symbolic progress, this is unacceptable. It is easier to prohibit the unfamiliar than to admit that harm reduction may coexist with persistence of habit. The result is a policy landscape in which prohibition falls not on the most damaging product, but on the one that refuses to fit the inherited script. This is not public health as such. It is administrative self-preservation, dressed in precautionary language and enforced with a confidence that would never be applied to the cigarette itself. A culture serious about harm would interrogate outcomes. A culture serious about realism would recognise that prohibition follows convenience, not principle. Instead, we have a situation in which the cigarette is managed because it is indispensable, and the pouch is banned because it is optional. That is not an endgame. #TobaccoVanguard #NicotinePouches #Cigarettes #RegulatoryAbsurdity #HarmReduction #PublicHealthPolicy #RegulatoryState #AdministrativePower #TobaccoControl #CulturalRealism

It’s a brand new year, and we’re Springing into Action with some fantastic novels here on #ReleaseDay! We’ve got novels from far-flung future Mars to ancient Roman legions, reprints of bestsellers from Wen Spencer, Larry Correia, and David Weber, as well as some alternate history in the Ring of Fire universe! It might be getting colder outside but the action here is just starting to heat up. /1
