A livery cab driver was shot after a crash in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, on Friday morning. It happened on North Portland Avenue between Park and Myrtle avenues just before 4:15 a.m. Police say the black SUV was involved in a minor crash with a transport van when a gunman walked up to the driver's side window and opened fire. The driver, 50, was shot in his right cheek. He was said to be awake and speaking to emergency service workers as he was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. He is listed in stable condition. The gunman ran away from the scene and into the nearby Walt Whitman NYCHA development. abc7ny.com/post/livery-cab-d…

There are people - in fact, there are very many of them - who can't tell the difference between the Bronx and Switzerland. ─────────────── New York City will be moving to a “European-style” approach to bus fare enforcement, MTA Chair Janno Lieber said Tuesday. The city will move away from using police for fare enforcement on buses, Lieber explained to a crowd at New York City Law School. Lieber said the shift will happen once OMNY is fully implemented in 2026. Lieber said he hopes Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani will prioritize bus fare enforcement, even as he explores making the bus system free. ”We’re going to move to European-style fare payment enforcement, where you’ll have fare agents, not cops, who can go up to people and say, ‘Can you show me your phone or your OMNY card and I can validate that you paid,’” Lieber said. A crooked Bronx transit cop was on a drug kingpin’s payroll over a span of 15 years — raking in tens of thousands in bribes to move cocaine by the kilo, a bombshell new federal indictment claims. Andrew Nguyen, 41, also scanned NYPD records for information on the narcotics honcho’s competitors, removed drugs from the dealer’s stash house and orchestrated a phony traffic stop and drug “seizure” to help the dealer dodge a $245,000 debt to one of his suppliers, court papers say. The corrupt officer teamed up with the “leader of a drug trafficking enterprise” shortly after being hired to patrol subways in Transit District 12 in the East Bronx in 2008, the feds allege. He’d struck up a friendship with the dealer, who sold heroin, cocaine and marijuana, two years earlier. In October 2008, the drug trafficker, who the indictment doesn’t name, was busted for selling heroin to an undercover police officer. Soon afterward, Nguyen went to the dealer’s stash house and removed heroin and a firearm from the premises so that police would not find them, court papers claim. . . . . . The feds caught Nguyen on camera during a December 2023 sting transporting five kilos of what he believed was cocaine in exchange for $5,000 from the dealer, court papers show. It was unclear Wednesday why he was only arrested on Tuesday, nearly two years later. Via @nypost

Nope, not the case. We have more donors, double Cuomo’s. Working class support. Cuomo’s average donor is giving $699, Sliwa’s is $125. Don’t know many New Yorkers who can afford a $699 donation but go off. Spending: we have 5,000 canvassers pulling out voters daily. 1,000,000 calls to voters as of yesterday. 150k doors hit from canvasser assigned to door to door. We have more social media interactions and viral posts that Cuomo, and often times we outpace Mamdani. We have strategy, Cuomo has PACs funded by billionaires. That’s why he lost. We can beat Mamdani, he can’t. We are outpacing the Early Vote turn out from 2024, as we have spent more on microtargeting voters and grassroots support. Curtis’ plan to revive NYC in 100 days is clear, reasonable and transparent. New Yorkers won’t go back to those who failed us. Don’t silence our base, spouting nonsense. Thanks! - Team Sliwa Join us! East 116th Street and Park Avenue in East Harlem: 'This past Sunday, police received a call regarding a store robbery committed by a woman armed with a screwdriver. Officers from the NYPD's 25th Precinct quickly located a woman matching the description. While being detained, she told the police, "I don't know what you want from me. I went to the store to buy items so I could sell them to get money for my crack, so I can smoke it." She also mentioned that she had just been released from Rikers. The store clerk confirmed her identity as the suspect, and this habitual offender was arrested once again.'

Charlie Kirk changed my life. I attended Turning Point USA's Young Black Leadership Summit in October 2018. I was 14 at the time but Charlie told me it didn't matter how young I was, I could fight alongside him in this movement. From then on, I attended every Turning Point Conference every year. From 2018 to 2025. I grew up in this movement. I became the person I am today because of the inspiration from Charlie Kirk and his organization. I will never be the same without him, and this country will never be the same either. He was a husband, a father, a man of God, and a visionary for our nation.

Franz Sigel Park, what could be a beautiful Bronx gem, named for Civil War hero Franz Sigel, has been left to rot. Garbage, neglect, decay— what’s the city doing about this? Our parks deserve better, the Bronx deserves better and YOU deserve better. Read my plan to enhance New Yorkers’ quality of life and city services. sliwafornyc.com/improvenyc
