Hitting is a conversation. #GoodBatting

I've been saying for many years now that MLB had turned into a 20-and-over travel league. But the last couple years, I've been noticing that baseball was beginning to "baseball" again. And this year especially, baseball was baseballing more than I'd seen in last 10-15 years .... Ending with a World Series that included 2 teams who played "baseball" and the winner just happened to be the best team from start to finish.

COACHES: It’s not about you. Your greatest impact rarely happens in front of an audience. It happens in the subtle, private moments—helping a hitter see a blind spot, protecting their confidence, asking the right question, or simply knowing when to give them space. The best developers I know work in the shadows. 😎 They’re changing lives, shaping careers, and helping players become more than they thought possible—without anyone ever knowing their name. And they’re perfectly okay with that. The best coaching isn’t performed for recognition. It’s done in service of the player.

Just because you took longer than others, doesn’t mean you failed. Remember that.

Not enough young players WATCH baseball today. For example, if you watched #MLB games every night you would see... ⚾️ Errors made ⚾️ Baserunning mistakes ⚾️ Strike outs ⚾️ Walks ⚾️ Passed balls ⚾️ Managing miscues Just to name a few. Humans exist in the big leagues too. Mistakes happen. It's how you respond to them that separates you.

HITTING COACHES: Sometimes the best thing you can do for a struggling hitter is give them a day or two away from hitting. Free the mind. Create some pause. Hitters aren’t naturally good at slowing down. Sometimes, helping them get back on track means protecting them from themselves. #GoodBatting

Problems don’t ask for permission. They just show up. In the cage. In the clubhouse. At home. In your head. The question isn’t whether adversity is coming. It’s whether you’ve trained yourself to respond instead of react to it. Composure is a skill. Perspective is a superpower. And toughness is built in the moments nobody applauds. The best players and coaches aren’t problem-free. They just don’t let problems dictate their direction.

YOUNG PLAYERS: You don't know how much the little things stand out. The way you... ⚾️ Wear your uniform ⚾️ Hustle on and off the field ⚾️ Run out every ball ⚾️ Back up bases ⚾️ Look a coach in the eye ⚾️ Respond to failure ⚾️ Swing at strikes & take balls ⚾️ Talk to umpires ⚾️ Treat your mom/dad/family Just to name a few. Those who get paid to notice things, don't miss anything. Somebody is always watching 👀

Pride is the first chapter in the book of failure. Humility is the first chapter in the book of success.
