This woman is a complete hero, as courageous as she is persistent and persuasive. In years to come, when a free Palestinian state sits alongside Israel and Netanyahu sits in a cell in the Hague, she will no doubt be awarded the Nobel Prize she so deserves.
If you hear any words today. Let them Be this. @FranceskAlbs speaking truth to power. As the United Nations Special Rapporteur, here she is passionately condemning the global community's silence and lack of empathy for the Palestinian people. United we stand 🕊️

BREAKING 🚨 | Conservative and Reform MPs have just voted AGAINST the Employment Rights Bill. They've voted to stand on the side of exploitation, zero-hours contracts and fire and rehire. True colours.

The horrors unfolding in northern Gaza are the result of a completely unrestrained Netanyahu gov, fully armed by the Biden admin while food aid is blocked and patients are bombed in hospitals. This is a genocide of Palestinians. The US must stop enabling it. Arms embargo now.

“Gaza has been transformed into an industrial-scale slaughterhouse, And I use the word slaughter advisedly because, frankly animals in most abattoirs in the world are killed more humanely than the women and the children of Gaza. Shame on all of us” UNRWA's former chief spokesperson Christopher Gunness.

Why is there not more outrage over these successive strikes on schools? The Israelis have now bombed 546 of them
Yet another school struck, another mass fatality atrocity perpetrated by Israel. Before this 546 schools in Gaza had been hit. The anti-arab racism that sadly pervades many decision-makers, political leaders and media means this will be ignored even welcomed by many.

It is easy for certain governments to stand by and condemn Iranian actions. But that solves nothing. Nor does the familiar policy of defending Israel come what may. Instead we have to address the real cause of the present crisis. That means facing the undeniable reality that it is only by ending Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine that we can hope to restore peace to the region. Anyone who believes we can achieve peace by other means – by containing Iran, by eliminating Hamas, by defeating Hezbollah, or by steadfast political, military and financial support for Israel – is either deluded, naive or deliberately trying to avoid the truth.     The truth in this situation is hard to bear. For too long many western governments have postponed reckoning with this reality and failed to guarantee the Palestinian people the security and stability that only statehood can provide. The rights and lives of Palestinian people under occupation have been progressively eroded by the expansion of illegal settlements and the imposition of an apartheid regime. Supporters of Israel speak in the name of international law while they repeatedly prevent its implementation in the case of Palestine. This must change now.  Respect for international law must be genuine not by words but by taking action. Israel must be required to suspend its military operations in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon. This should by followed by collective international action to end Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine. A fully sovereign Palestinian state must be established, backed not just by the letter of the law but by all the institutional and organisational resources of the international community.

I feel desolate today, staring into the abyss. Millions of us have campaigned over the last year to try to stop this Genocide. But hard power, wielded by cruel and evil people, means that scores of little children are still being slaughtered. Every single bloody day.

Given that the UK a) has ALWAYS regarded the West Bank & Gaza as illegally occupied by Israel and b) we have ALWAYS, under every government, supported a Two State Solution, what conceivable excuse can @DavidLammy & @Keir_Starmer produce for abstaining on this motion in the face of all sane readings of International Law? What is this strange urge to back Ben Gvir & Netanyahu in their war crimes and slaughter of Palestinians? Do you both really wish the indigenous people of the West Bank to be wiped out or ethnically cleansed? Because that is exactly the endgame that British policy is heading towards. This is an utter disgrace at any time. Under a Labour Government its even more unforgivable. UN members back resolution directing Israel to leave occupied territories. General assembly votes overwhelmingly in favour of Palestinian resolution after ICJ ruling in July theguardian.com/world/2024/s…

This from @DalrympleWill is really important The BBC and Jewish Chronicle connection is really concerning and even more so in light of recent false reporting and resignations. Although worth noting that the Jewish Chronicle has reportedly had over 30 breaches of the Editors Code within a 3 year period so this latest behaviour is part of a long line of behaviour. Discussed previously in @amuslimandajew with @Baddiel who along with others has resigned 👏🏽 open.spotify.com/episode/2ju…
Just to put this out there with clarity: Robbie Gibb, who is responsible for turning the disgraced JC into a right-wing Pro-Netanyahu propaganda rag, is one of five people - including the Director General - on the @BBCNews editorial guidelines and standards committee. It’s on the BBC website. Minutes of the last meeting show they discussed complaints about Israel/Gaza. Quite apart from the fact he is not remotely impartial on the Middle East, how can the owner of a paper with such poor journalistic standards have a role over the BBC’s? Robbie Gibb gets to censor the BBC's Middle East coverage. He needs to resign today. bbc.co.uk/aboutthebbc/whowea…
