He would be a solid backup plan if Skubal says he doesn’t like money. Me personally, I’d try to sign both. Mets won’t do that though.
Clay Holmes, who is expected to opt out of his deal with the Cubs, is open to a return to the Mets, SNY's Chelsea Janes reports:
"Holmes could also be a candidate for a return.
As of this week, he is expected to opt out of his current deal, and people familiar with his thinking say he is open to a return to the Mets if the right deal is offered.
He did, after all, thrive in Queens as a starter - so much so that he will likely receive a far bigger contract as a free agent than he probably would have if the Mets had not given him the chance to jump out of the bullpen."
Late on this but fantastic hire.
The Mets are hiring Mariano Duncan to their MLB coaching staff, per @Joelsherman1
Duncan, a 12-year MLB veteran, has been serving the role of bench coach for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in the Mets' organization
He is expected to "help in multiple areas with the position player group"
Juan Soto accepting fate and becoming a 1B/DH in 2027 would open up one of the easier ways to improve the Mets as an overall team. That’s not happening though.
On Baseball Night in New York, @MaggieGray gets on her soapbox to request for Juan Soto to play first base for the Mets next season
The crazy thing about the Brewers is they aren’t going anywhere. They still have Jesús Made, the #1 overall prospect in baseball. Superstar in the making.

Absolutely agree. Howie Rose’s farewell really showed me that we need to enjoy it while it lasts because it won’t last forever.
Replying to @Ben_Yoel
My takeaway is Ron Darling can work on SNY as long as he likely wants to. He evaluates every year if he is up for doing it another year. GKR are getting older. We need to treasure them while we have them. At some point, they won't keep calling baseball games and will retire
This is the definition of a non-story.
Ron Darling was non-committal yesterday when I asked him about returning to the SNY booth for next season. He has a contract for next year. nypost.com/2026/10/23/sports…
I can’t say I blame him.
They gave him the worst contract in baseball.
Ronald Acuna Jr. apparently wants out of Atlanta, per @CameronMaybin
