Paper alert! CR reduces mutation burden genome wide, with a twist: protection in inactively transcribed regions ! Impactful collab with led by Marta @GronskaPesk, in @giladevrony lab with @jeshoag, @CircadianClocks @carlabgreen and @amandagarridomartin
Can dietary interventions change how fast genomes accumulate mutations with age? We studied how caloric restriction (CR)—one of the most robust lifespan-extending interventions—affects somatic mutations across the genome in different tissues and cell types in mice.

🔥Does academia stifle creativity? This new perspective argues that academia is currently structured to select against creativity, intellectual risk-taking and bold ideas. Young scientists – who may be best positioned for new ideas – are particularly incentivized to play it safe.

A new study shows that rhythmic gene expression in the liver is shaped by the interaction between the circadian clock and feeding-responsive mTOR signaling, providing important mechanistic insight into how meal timing influences metabolic health! science.org/doi/10.1126/scia…

On this day in 2005: Congress extended Daylight Saving Time from seven to nearly eight months long, as a rider amendment in the Energy Policy Act.

For every 5° farther west within the same time zone (about a 20-minute later sunrise), cancer incidence increased measurably for several cancers. Note: the average time zone is 15° so even cutting them in half would not get rid of the effect. Point: later sunrise times are not good for your health. pDST makes all sunrise times 1 hour later than pST everyday of the year. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/article…

“I’m a fan of respecting the sun, having the sun do what it does… If you keep Daylight Saving Time the entire year, in NYC the sun won’t rise until 8:20am. There’s safety issues with that.” —Dr Neil deGrasse Tyson

EDITORIAL: Congress’ push for permanent daylight saving time gets it exactly backward, ignoring basic medical science and human beings’ circadian rhythms. Permanent standard time is far preferable. sun-sentinel.com/2026/07/30/…

New report on DST by the Congressional Research Service finds: • Energy is not saved. • Sleep is a factor missed in safety studies that only consider visibility. • Spring forward harms more than fall back. • Permanent Standard Time is best for health. congress.gov/crs-product/R45…
