A prayer for those who may be feeling lonely this Advent and Christmas. 💜

ALT Loving God, whatever happens, be with me this Christmas, especially when I find myself alone. Be with those whom I hold in my heart, whether they are near or far way. Help us to hear the good news of the angels, and to reflect the light that shines in the darkness. May the world you came to heal know your peace this day, for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen.

ALT Lord God, the fountain of wisdom, whose will is good and gracious and whose law is truth: Hear our prayer for all who serve the political life of our land at this time. Speak your word of peace into the heat of discord and debate, and lead us forward in the ways of your kingdom of righteousness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

In Desmond Tutu’s eyes, we saw Jesus’ love. In his voice, we heard Jesus’ compassion. In his laughter, we heard Jesus’ joy. It was beautiful and brave. His greatest love is now realised as he meets his Lord face to face.
