Mao is "revered" in China because any other option is against the law.

Chinese Communist Party supporter from Indonesia admits that Mbappé wasn’t even making a political statement when he called Mao a dictator - it’s just a terror campaign designed to scare celebrities into never speaking against the CCP. “Kill the chicken to scare the monkeys - he’s the chicken.” Ask yourself if this is the world you want to live in. If China ever truly surpassed the United States they would implement the biggest international reign of terror in history - permanent censorship of everybody forever, nobody ever allowed to tell the truth about their fucked up history and fucked up political system. It offends me to my very fucking core. I fucking hate it dude. I hate the expectation that we must all censor ourselves and bend the knee and accept this psychotic humiliation ritual every time the feelings of Han Chinese ultra-nationalists are offended over the slightest missteps. Their pathetic Third World mentality, this toxic mixture of ultra-aggression and arrogance born out of deep insecurity and resentment towards the West. It’s just so disgusting and repulsive to me on such a visceral level. It’s funny, obviously I came up as a hardcore anti-CCP activist and people know me as some kind of hardcore “China hater.” But as I became more right wing recently and “Lee Kuan Yew” pilled I was actually starting to gain a bit of newfound respect for China’s economic development and modernisation post-Deng Xiaoping - their YIMBY approach to development, their gleaming new cities, their beautiful high speed train system, their zero tolerance approach to petty crime which ensures they don’t have mentally ill crackheads wandering around stabbing people on the train like we have to endure in American cities. These are all parts of the Chinese system that I unironically have respect for and admire even as a longtime anti-CCP activist. And I even have respect for some CCP leaders. Despite my longheld disgust for Tiananmen I overall have a lot of respect for Deng Xiaoping because he moved China away from the disasters of Maoism and embraced economic development. I unironically greatly respect his pragmatism to the point that some of the Deng quotes are unironically my favourite political sayings: “It doesn’t matter if a cat is black or white so long as it catches mice.” “Hide your strength, bide your time.” “Cross the river by feeling the stones.” I unironically refer to these Deng quotes all the time and legitimately use them in my day to day life as quotes that guide me. So their soft power was starting to work on me, I started to wonder whether I had been mistaken. China opened itself up to tourism in recent years. Friends of mine started to visit China and reported back to me that they had seen technological marvels. That their Tier-1 cities were amazing. I started to wonder whether I had been wrong. And then they come out with something like this - this deranged terror-censorship campaign to silence people in the West - and completely and instantly obliterate all their soft power for me in a second. It instantly reminds me that the spirit of Third Worldism - this toxic cocktail of historical resentment, insecurity and racial hatred towards the West - still haunts China today. This is not how a strong and confident nation behaves. Strong and confident people do not need to prosecute mass terror campaigns to censor foreigners living IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES. That’s the thing that disgusts me most about this all. How fucking dare you try tell us how to think and feel in our own countries? If a Westerner ran around Chinese cities insulting Mao, fine, I would legitimately accept you deporting them and kicking them out. But how dare you try censor us in our own countries, speaking in our own languages, in our own internal discourse. How dare you prosecute this as a terror campaign. Fuck you. Such a disgusting and repulsive mentality.

Berries are naturally available a few days a year. But because they are so delicious, the miracle of capitalism makes them available year-round. Fuck seasonal produce. The capitalist consumer eats what he wants, when he wants it

This Hoover Institution study, which has fueled the deluge of ads (more than $200 million spent by billionaires so far) to defeat the California billionaire tax, is spectacularly misleading. Let me explain its crucial flaw. 🧵
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Zucman argues that the tax will raise his projected revenue because billionaires who leave CA after 1/1/26 will be taxed anyway. At least $542B of net worth (Page, Brin, Thiel) departed the state by 12/31/25. The entire thread is a misleading denial of this fact. ft.com/content/d66976… nytimes.com/2026/04/27/us/… forbes.com/sites/forbeswe…

Nothing to see but the biggest cheating scam in sporting history followed by blackmail by the crank state of UAE. Given the spineless nature of the Labor government, expect them to lean on the decision to acquit.
Emirati officials have warned the UK government that the severity of ruling on #ManCity could undermine their appetite for future grand-scale UK commitments, and consider the Premier League’s actions to have an influence on the bilateral state relationship. UK government officials are equally frustrated by the conduct of UAE counterparts and believe some in the Gulf nation must have been aware of the extent of @ManCity’s wrongdoing, even while insisting there was nothing untoward. Douglas Murray speaks of the 9/11 hijackers’ “lust for death.” Yet every last phone call from a 9/11 victim to family spoke only of love. We are not like them.

Israel did the right thing after the October 7 attacks.
I think America’s reaction to 9/11 is one of the clearest examples of how a modern liberal society behaves. Almost any other state in history with the level of power the United States had in 2001 might have simply flattened Afghanistan and called it a day. Instead, the US spent two decades fighting there, losing more men in the process, all to hunt down a relatively small number of terrorists, only to eventually withdraw and lose its strategic foothold in Central Asia anyway. What a weird timeline.

I don’t really like Gamal Abdel Nasser, but he was a fucking lion for killing Sayyid Qutb. Never forget that the intellectual father of Al Qaeda invented modern Salafi jihadism because he had an incel meltdown watching women dance in America.
