Unbelievable. It is unfathomable that this admin wants to spend $300M to repair the sea wall and REDUCE access to the peninsula for everything other than elite golfers. Plans at the NCPC show NO Ohio Drive. NO playground. NO park. This is completely unacceptable and a gross misuse of taxpayer dollars and the original intent of this PUBLIC PARK. To be clear, the plans explicitly note that the overhaul would displace all other forms of recreation. It is downright digusting. washingtonpost.com/sports/20…

Turns out that winning badly is not really winning at all:

8pm to 10pm and no press. That's a wake, not an election party.
A joint Tom Kean Jr. / New Jersey GOP election night event is on for tomorrow evening – but it’s closed to the press. Read into that what you will, but if you’re looking for press coverage of NJ Republican reactions tomorrow and not finding it, that’s why.

It's one thing to have park and ride stations, but why does *Union Station in DC* have this much surface parking next to it?

One way or another, Tom Kean, Jr. is predicting an early evening: his election night party is scheduled from 8-10 PM.

“[I]n order for students in a state to use scholarships funded by FSTC-eligible donations, their state’s Governor must “opt in” to the program (taxpayers in a state that doesn’t opt in can still take the credit by donating to a fund in another state, but their donations will benefit children in the other state). So far, 31 states with both Democratic and Republican Governors have done so. As of now, Mayor Bowser, who holds the responsibilities of a Governor for DC, has not. In her remaining time in office, she should. And her successor-elect, Janeese Lewis George, should call for or avidly support such a decision, because it would help advance some of her stated goals and make it easier to solve some challenges her administration will need to address.” open.substack.com/pub/capita…

Struggle sessions are not how you create a board political front against MAGA…but let’s be honest folks like this wouldn’t prosper in that milieu anyway:
If you supported Haley Stevens now is your time to speak out, denounce her as the Republican she is and apologize for supporting a traitor.

If a nuclear weapon were used on Pick Axe mountain in Iran by the US or Israel or an empty field in Ukraine by Russia etc, it doesn’t matter, it would open up Pandora’s box and would make the U.S. and the world dramatically less safe. This isn’t even a question of how big of a disaster the use, in any manner, of a nuclear weapon would be. It would represent the largest foreign policy error ever by the United States if we were involved. We can only hope this claim isn’t accurate in any way.

Mike Rogers is running the most racist campaign in the country by a country mile? Everyone is allowed their views. What I don't understand is 1) why nobody who is pro-rogers on anti-semitism grounds contends with his overt bigotry or 2) why anyone thinks empowering Trump/Vance/Rogers and being seen as a spoiler to Democrats would advance the stated cause in any meaningful way.

Explain to me the AIPAC/Mr. Stevens endgame here? If Rogers wins and is god forbid the 49/50th vote for ICE camps & who knows what else they will be blamed! It will reduce their power in the Dem party even more. If Abdul wins anyway (which I expect) then they reveal themselves to be whining losers w no influence. It’s just one big temper tantrum that is serving to undermine their stated goals. Crazy.

This is what seeing Neville and thinking “Winston!” looks like:
Haley Stevens made the gutsiest move I’ve seen in my political life today. Nothing but respect.

The gutsiness of telling your staff you’ll be heading to one party’s event and then going to another to endorse the other party…

I don’t think Stevens should be scolded for following her conscience. And I don’t think her endorsement of Rogers is an endorsement of Trump’s bigotry. What she did took guts. You can still say you want Sayed to win, but shes standing up against the Piker/Uyger wing when it matters.

What’s truly insane is that last night Haley Stevens credited Abdul El-Sayed for criticizing the Rebellion PAC ad

As I report here ... - Stevens told numerous high profile Dems last night she was voting for AES - staff was literally waiting at the unity rally thinking she was about to arrive - even key Dems who are similarly skeptical of AES are baffled and aghast talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog…

I’ve known Haley Stevens for a long time. Until now, she has always had staff to protect her, prop her up, and keep her safe from her own irrational behavior. What we’re seeing now? This is just raw, unfiltered Haley. The Haley who flip-flops and goes from thought to thought without rhyme or reason. The Haley that calls you at 3 AM to yell at you, and then calls you back at 5 AM oblivious to the fact that she even spoke with you at 3 AM. The Haley who bends to the last and loudest voice that tells her something. More often than not that last voice is now her fiancé. And as you can see by what one of her former staff people posted earlier here on X, that appears to potentially be a really troubling relationship. Up until this point, other than a joke I made on X a few days ago, I wasn't going to say anything public about Haley Stevens or how she has comported herself since the primary. It not only wasn't appropriate, I would never, ever want anyone to think I was speaking for or on behalf of my wife. But Haley's erratic choices mean I can no longer be silent about my interactions with her since the primary ended. I approached Haley in the middle of September about putting her name to an Op-Ed attacking Mike Rogers for his unwillingness to denounce the antisemitic members of his own team, the $10 million in support he's received from Christian nationalist Tim Dunn, and his steadfast opposition to a woman's right to choose. The goal of the Op-Ed was to remind members of the Jewish community that Mike Rogers doesn't align with our values. The proposed Op-Ed never mentioned Abdul. The only thing it asked for was to not vote for Mike Rogers. Initially she was very interested in it. Then she wasn't. Then she was again. Then she wasn't. She never signed it. Literally the bare minimum - attack MAGA Mike Rogers, the guy who would have been running against you had you won the primary. And that was over a month ago. This is nothing new. This is just who Haley is. By the way, here's the Op-Ed that she wouldn't let me publish.
