Super super SUPER cool Antenariid anglerfish caught with a beach seine while we're out here teaching undergrads about estuarine ecology! First time seeing one so little, made my whole day!! @Uni_Newcastle @UoN_CaMS – at Wallis Lake, Forster - Tuncurry

We don’t currently have any grant funding to support @SkypeScientist for 2025 😬 But! We have Frog Facts advent calendars to help float us until I get us funding! They are amazing! Every day scratch off the sparkles to get a frog fact. If we sell 5000 it will fully fund 2025.

This is the coolest garter snake I've ever caught! Anyone know if it's melanistic?

While conducting Spotted Turtle surveys, Alex recently encountered a special marked turtle at a long-term monitoring site. The notching on the carapace revealed that this individual was originally captured by eminent turtle biologist Dr. Jackie Litzgus in 2000.

I’d like to take a moment to share a CT scan of my favorite specimen in the entireUMMZ - - a 100 year old mama Massasauga rattlesnake with 12 little pups perfectly coiled inside. I love her. 🐍💜. #umicheeb #ssar2024 #ctscan

You hear a lot of weird things deep in the forest. Sometime they're the trees, sometimes they're the wildlife, sometimes they're the ancient boreal entities that unblinkingly stare through the eyes of the aspen

Just when I thought I'd seen all the ways that nudibranchs could surprise me. Holy crap look at this one. It looks like it's made of strawberry candies.

FUNGUS IN SPACE!!! 🍄🚀 Equal parts cosmic horror and nature being metal, let's talk about the lichen that grew on the OUTSIDE of the International Space Station! Get your tea and curl up, because I PROMISE you wanna hear about these fungal cosmonauts 🧑‍🚀 🧵

We came to our friends and community for the most fantastic cephalopod Valentine’s Day puns Unfortunately most of them were ❌NOT❌ kid friendly So we made them into memes instead for everyone to share 🫶

People tend to think of “STEM careers” as good money but the vast majority of people I know working in wildlife/the environmental field are making about the same as fast food workers for jobs that require a master’s degree. No joke in this one sorry

A historic day for Colorado and for the first time ever — we released 5 wolves, 3 males and 2 females, in Grand County today. Captured in Oregon, the wolves were evaluated by our veterinarians & biologists, fitted with GPS collars & transported to Colorado for their release.

Please don’t throw away your mascara wands. Instead, clean with dawn soap, place them in a ziploc bag and mail them to a Wildlife Refuge accepting donations. They can be used to clean away oil, larvae, fly eggs, mites, mud and other contaminants from wildlife. Addresses below 👇🏾
