Tuesday night reminded me why in-person still matters. Spent the evening at the Q5 Strategies launch at Cafe Malabar. Great food, new connections, and the kind of energy you can't replicate over Zoom. I spend most of my days thinking about AI. How to make agents smarter, more coordinated, better at understanding context. But nights like this are the counterweight. No algorithm recommended I meet these people. No automation scheduled the conversation that turned into a real opportunity. Just humans in a room, figuring out who they like and trust. Huge thanks to Usman N. Afzal, CFA Afzal for the invite. It's always good to be around people who are building something. Philip Doublet, already knew you were crushing it, the team is lucky to have you. And to Ernest Bednarz, Jessica Craig, and Sankar Nair: what you're doing for Victoria's business community is genuinely exciting to watch. Was great to be connected. The irony isn't lost on me. I'm building AI infrastructure during the day and shaking hands at networking events at night. But maybe that's exactly right. The better AI gets at scale, the more valuable these moments of human connection become. Looking forward to what Q5 brings to Vancouver Island.

Most people use AI every day but have never seen what's happening inside. This visualization shows it: hundreds of tiny pathways firing, strengthening, forming patterns. Neural networks learning from data. It powers ChatGPT, image generation, self-driving cars, robotics. Millions of small connections forming one digital brain. Here's what watching this reminded me of: The best AI use cases follow one principle: maximum context, minimum tokens. Think about it like this—a true expert doesn't need 10,000 words to explain something complex. They use a single metaphor that carries the weight of years of pattern recognition. That's exactly what great AI implementation looks like. When you build metaphorical prompts on top of a model that deeply understands your best practices and your customer's context, you get: → Less complexity → More reliability → Higher trust in the output It's an IQ test for use case design: Can you compress the right context into the smallest possible instruction set? The companies getting real value from AI aren't the ones throwing more data at models. They're the ones who've figured out which context actually matters and how to deliver it efficiently. This is just my weekend theory, but curious, what's one use case where you've seen this work?

Privacy is already dead. We just haven't held the funeral yet. And that's going to be the biggest cultural shift in tech this decade. **THE UNCOMFORTABLE MATH** Good AI needs good data. Period. Labs are burning trillions on high-quality datasets. That data has to come from somewhere. Guess where. **WE'VE ALREADY MADE THE TRADE** Think about what you did today: • Let Google read your emails for "better spam filtering" • Gave Maps your location for "traffic updates" • Fed TikTok your scrolling habits for "personalized content" • Dumped your entire codebase into ChatGPT Privacy died years ago. We just kept the corpse around for comfort. **THE CHINA REALITY CHECK** While we debate ethics, China's collecting everything. Cameras on every corner. Apps monitoring every swipe. Building datasets we can't even imagine. The worst case scenario isn't that superintelligence doesn't arrive. It's that it arrives in Beijing first. Because whoever has the most data wins. And regulations are just speed bumps when you're racing for AGI. **THE REAL SHIFT HAPPENING NOW** We're moving from "Don't collect my data" to "Don't abuse my data." Big difference. The first is impossible. The second is negotiable. Smart startups get this. They're not pretending to protect privacy. They're being transparent about how they use what they collect. **WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR BUSINESS** Stop apologizing for needing data. Start being radically transparent about what you do with it. Your customers already know the deal: - Their data for better service - Their patterns for smarter AI - Their privacy for actual utility The companies winning in 2025 won't be the ones with the best privacy policies. They'll be the ones who admit the truth: Intelligence requires data. Lots of it. **MY PREDICTION** Within 24 months: - "Privacy-first" becomes a red flag for inferior AI - Data transparency becomes the new competitive advantage - Consumers actively share more data for better AI experiences - The privacy debate shifts entirely to preventing abuse We're entering a world where your AI is only as smart as the data you feed it. And pretending otherwise is just slowing us down. Question for my network: What data would you willingly share if it meant your AI actually understood you? (Shoutout to Tenfold Victoria's Tuesday event, where I have the chance to have these types of conversations with the amazing community that attends! DM me if you are interested in joining!)

When GTA VI drops, it's going to change everything about how we work, live, and exist. Not because it's a game. Because it's the tipping point nobody sees coming. **PETE LEIDEN JUST DROPPED A TRUTH BOMB** Caught his talk on technological tipping points. The pattern hit me like a freight train. Every 80 years, America reinvents itself through crisis: - 1787: Created democracy from feudalism - 1865: Built railroads after Civil War chaos - 1945: Launched postwar boom from Depression ruins - 2025: We're here. Right now. But Leiden missed something: **The digital tipping point isn't just about AI or clean energy.** It's about the moment reality becomes optional. **MY PREDICTION: GTA VI IS THE CATALYST** Rockstar's building more than a game. They're building a parallel economy. - In-game assets worth real money - Digital currencies tested in GTA Online - Communities that never log off - Economies that rival small countries When 100 million boot up on day one, digital currencies go mainstream overnight. Not because of crypto bros. Because of gamers who don't know they're adopting blockchain. **THE UNCOMFORTABLE TRUTH** We're already there. Just too stubborn to admit it. Your best friends? Discord servers. Your office? Zoom boxes. Your identity? LinkedIn profile. Your wealth? Numbers on screens. GTA VI just makes it official: **Physical presence becomes a lifestyle choice, not a requirement.** **WHAT THIS ACTUALLY MEANS** We're moving to **digital-first existence** where: - Income flows from virtual activities - Communities exist without geography - Work happens in persistent digital worlds - Physical location becomes irrelevant Your kids won't "go to work." They'll log in. They won't "meet friends." They'll spawn together. **THE PATTERN I'M TRACKING** Like Leiden's 80-year cycles, each shift seemed impossible until inevitable: 1865: "Nobody will ride trains" → 175,000 miles of track 2026: "People need physical interaction" → Watch what happens **THREE THINGS CONVERGING NOW** 1. **Digital Identity** - Everyone has avatars, profiles, persistent personas 2. **Value Creation Tools** - AI, no-code, content creation at everyone's fingertips 3. **Cultural Permission** - Gen Z already lives online GTA VI packages all three into one irresistible experience. **THE BRUTAL MATH** If 1% of GTA VI players earn $1,000/month in-game, that's a billion-dollar economy. If 10% participate in digital commerce, that's bigger than most countries' GDP. Game over for physical-first thinking. **THE QUESTION THAT MATTERS** Not "Will this happen?" But "What's your strategy when your customers never leave their screens?" While you're debating remote work policies, entire generations are building wealth in worlds that don't exist. Yet. Building for the future where logging off becomes the exception, not the rule. What's the first thing you'll build when physical presence becomes optional?

Uncle teaches niece and nephew how to use AI so they can have a major advantage over their peers when they get older. Rules: One 1-hour sesh every week where they are allowed to use AI. Only allowed to use AI when they are on a call with me. Progress Update: Oscar wants to learn to build an app with vibe coding tools like Base44 (please sponsor Oscar 🙏, he is already out of credits) Avery wants to create short, funny videos and later wants to start her own marketing agency. Has started using OpenAI's Sora. Oscar has successfully built a pizza clicker game MVP. Avery has drafted her prompts for Sora and has generated her first image. Next week: Optimize Oscar's app with more functionalities. Generate Avery's first AI video. So, what are your thoughts? Do you think it's wrong that I am teaching young kids how to use AI?

Sora is the new TikTok, and ChatGPT is the new app store. OpenAI is building a crazy moat. Here's how you can build yours: Speed For new startups, rapid prototyping and deployment form the core advantage. Quick execution outpaces slow, bureaucratic giants. Process Power Develop sophisticated, hard-to-copy systems like customized AI models or advanced engineering (e.g., Plaid, Stripe). Handling endless edge cases, ensuring top quality, and accumulating ops expertise create lasting hurdles. Cornered Resources Secure sole access to key assets: datasets, top talent, permits, connections, or proprietary methods. This includes guarded data troves, sector expertise, or approvals (e.g., drug patents, Palantir's government deals). Switching Costs Lock in users by raising exit barriers—via data entrapment, tailored integrations, or steep retraining hurdles. This secures enduring enterprise deals and turns full replacements into major undertakings. Counter Positioning Pursue strategies that established players avoid, as they threaten their core revenue (e.g., disruptive pricing, efficiency gains that undercut per-user fees, or models clashing with legacy motives). Network Economies Boost value as adoption grows, fueled by collective data, behaviors, or seamless connections (e.g., Visa, Facebook; AI case: Cursor improves via broader dev data). Scale Economies Exploit upfront spends on tech, data, or models to slash marginal costs and dominate rivals (e.g., only elite teams can fund massive LLM training or vast web scraping). Bonus: Avoid fixating on defenses early on. Prioritize nailing a genuine customer pain point and iterating swiftly. Protect moats only after building real worth.

If you were to build an AI agent builder platform, would you want to be the best solution, or have the record for most external integrations, or just have a select few?

I wonder if @elonmusk likes @LinkedIn as a platform. Not so much a beacon for free speech, but I would say it does what it promises.
