Bitcoin is falling, but does that mean buying puts is a good trade? 😨 Not necessarily... With the US midterm elections approaching, $BTC options are pricing in higher volatility. Here's what beginners should know: 🔹 Higher implied volatility (IV) means more expensive option premiums. 🔹 Even if Bitcoin moves in your predicted direction, a drop in IV after the event can reduce your option's value. 🔹 This is called an IV crush. It's one reason traders can predict the direction correctly and still lose money. Before buying options around major events, check the premium you're paying, not just where you think the price will go!

Altcoin season is coming! ... but does higher volatility mean better options trades? Not necessarily! Here's what many beginners overlook: 🔹 1. Higher volatility = Higher premiums When implied volatility (IV) rises, options become more expensive. You're paying more for the possibility of a big move. 🔹 2. Getting the direction right isn't enough $ETH could rally 8%, yet your Call Option might still lose money if the move isn't large enough to cover the premium you paid. 🔹 3. Time is working against you Even during strong altcoin rallies, options lose time value as expiration approaches. That's theta decay. The lesson? A volatile market creates opportunities, but buying expensive options can turn a correct prediction into a losing trade. Before entering, check the implied volatility, breakeven price, and time to expiration. A big price move doesn't automatically mean a profitable options trade 💡

🗞️ Weekly Crypto News | October 27 1. $10.9B BTC Options Expiry Looms Around $10.9 billion in $BTC options are scheduled to expire on October 30. With large positions concentrated at key strikes, settlement and hedging activity deserve close attention. 2. Fed Decision Set for October 28 The Fed meets this week, with its rate decision and press conference on Wednesday. A change in rate expectations could quickly reprice short-dated BTC and ETH options. 3. Bitcoin Defends the $80K Area BTC has been testing the $79K–$80K region following last week's retreat. Traders are watching whether buyers can hold this area ahead of the Fed announcement and monthly expiry. 4. BTC and ETH ETF Flows Diverge Bitcoin ETFs returned to weekly net inflows, but ETH funds continued losing capital. That split matters for relative positioning and demand for downside protection. 5. ETH Options Price Bigger Swings Near-term implied volatility remains higher for ETH than BTC. Options traders are pricing wider percentage moves in Ether, making volatility spreads worth monitoring. 📊 Our focus this week: expiry positioning, short-dated volatility, and how quickly the market reprices after the Fed.

Why would a Bitcoin investor buy a put option if they're still bullish? 🤔 Because protecting your portfolio doesn't mean expecting a crash. Here's how it works: 📉 You hold $BTC at $80,000. 🛡️ You buy a put option with a $75,000 strike price. If Bitcoin falls to $65,000, your put gains value and helps offset losses on your holdings. If Bitcoin rallies instead, you keep the upside on your Bitcoin. The put may expire worthless, costing you the premium paid. Think of it as portfolio insurance. The real question isn't just how high Bitcoin could go. It's how much downside you're prepared to carry!

ETH implied volatility trades above BTC Deribit's volatility indicators show ETH near 53 versus BTC near 38. Options markets are pricing larger percentage swings in Ethereum. 5. Strategy faces potential MSCI exclusion New index rules could trigger around $2.8B in passive equity selling, putting another source of Bitcoin-linked institutional exposure under scrutiny. 📊 Our focus this week: ETF flows, month-end options positioning and the gap between $BTC and ETH volatility

Bitcoin drops. Do you have to sell? Not necessarily... With $BTC under pressure, here's how a protective put works: 🔹 You hold Bitcoin and buy a put option. 🔹 The put gives you the right to sell at a fixed strike price. 🔹 If Bitcoin falls below that strike, the put can offset part of your spot losses. 🔹 If Bitcoin rallies, you keep your upside exposure. The catch? Protection costs money. You pay an option premium, which reduces your net return. A protective put won't prevent every loss. It sets a floor on your position's value at expiry, before accounting for the premium. You don't need to predict the next crash to prepare for one!

🗞️ Weekly Crypto News | What Options Traders Should Watch ⚙️ BTC tests the $83K support zone Bitcoin slipped back into the low-$80K area, keeping traders focused on downside hedges and breakout triggers. ⚙️ Leverage rotates from $BTC to alts BTC open interest cooled while broader crypto open interest rose, a sign that leverage is moving away from Bitcoin and into higher-beta names. ⚙️ IBIT options stay active Bitcoin ETF-linked options are still drawing attention, with traders using defined-risk spreads instead of chasing spot exposure outright. ⚙️ ETH buying meets fund selling Ethereum saw short-term buying interest, but institutional selling kept pressure on the tape. For options traders, that makes positioning more interesting than direction alone. ⚙️ CPI week sets rate risk Inflation data lands before the next Fed meeting, and rates are still steering crypto risk appetite. ▶️ Watch open interest, expiry levels, and where implied vol refuses to cool.

Ever paid twice as much for a hotel room just because one busy weekend was coming up? ⚠️ Options can behave the same way. Bitcoin’s short-dated implied volatility has been moving faster than longer expiries recently. What does that mean? If 1-week IV rises above 1-month IV, traders are paying more for exposure to the next few days. Not necessarily for a move UP. Not necessarily for a move DOWN. They’re paying for movement. Before trading $BTC options, compare IV across expiries. ▶️ Join our free options trading education

🗞️ Weekly Crypto News | What Options Traders Should Watch ❇️ BTC slips as dollar and yields rise Bitcoin weakened as the dollar and Treasury yields moved higher. For options traders, Fed minutes, ETF flows, and spot demand are back in the driver’s seat. ❇️ U.S. regulators target leveraged crypto venues The CFTC proposed new rules for crypto platforms offering leveraged or margined trades. Venue rules can change liquidity, funding, and hedging behavior. ❇️ First 3x BTC & ETH ETFs get approved The SEC approved 3x BTC and ETH ETFs in the U.S. More short-term trading demand, more path risk, and more attention on realized volatility. ❇️ BTC front-end IV jumps above 31% One-week BTC implied volatility moved higher, while longer-dated tenors stayed calmer. The front end is where the market is paying for movement right now. ❇️ ETH/SOL vol gap stays wide SOL still carries a rich volatility premium versus $BTC. Relative-vol traders have a cleaner question this week: is that premium fair, or stretched? This week feels less about picking direction, and more about knowing where volatility is being mispriced 📊 What is your strategy?

🤔 Is “Uptober” already priced into the options market? If everyone expects $BTC to rally, call options can get expensive before spot even moves. That price comes from implied volatility. Higher IV = higher option premiums. So you can be right on direction and still lose money if: • the move is too small • it comes too late • IV drops after entry For beginners, check 4 things before buying a call: Expiry, Strike, Implied volatility & Breakeven price A bullish story does not automatically mean a good options trade ⛔️

🗞️ Weekly Crypto News | What Options Traders Should Watch ❇️ BTC ETF inflows reset positioning U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs just logged their strongest week since October 2025, with roughly $2.4B in inflows. Spot demand is back in the options conversation. ❇️ Macro pressure keeps volatility in focus Higher Treasury yields, oil pressure, and rate expectations kept $BTC near the $83K to $84K area. For traders, this is less about direction and more about reaction speed. ❇️ Options skew flips between puts and calls BTC and ETH skew has moved between downside protection and upside exposure. That tells me traders are paying for flexibility, not certainty. ❇️ ❇ETH traders price fresh short-term movement Short-dated ETH implied volatility jumped as traders responded to macro stress and ETF flow shifts. ETH options feel more sensitive than spot headlines suggest. ❇️ EU scrutiny puts exchange risk back on screen EU regulators are questioning Binance’s continued service to customers under MiCA rules. Exchange access and regulatory headlines can still move liquidity fast. This week feels like a market waiting for a reason to break its range... 📊

Ever noticed that protection gets expensive exactly when traders want it most? When traders become more concerned about a drop, demand for puts can rise. That demand can push their implied volatility higher, making those options more expensive. This creates something called volatility skew: For example: BTC trades at $100,000. A downside put has 65% IV. A comparable upside call has 52% IV. The market is pricing more volatility into the downside option. But higher put IV doesn’t mean $BTC is about to crash. It tells you something different: traders are paying more for downside exposure or protection. The price you pay for volatility matters too 👀
