Some days, the littlest of things make me so happy, like going back home to my homemade afang soup and thinking about the fact that I finally found Nigerian sweet potatoes.
God bless President Trump.
God bless the United States of America.

Putting your phone aside when talking to someone is one of the most underrated yet classy gestures.
It could be your boss, teacher, friend, or spouse, especially your spouse.
There’s a special kind of hurt in discovering an opportunity and immediately thinking to share it with a friend, only for them to casually mention they’ve known about it and benefited from it all along.
The opportunity isn’t the issue; it’s the lack of thought that hurts.
I was in line to get ice cream when I remarked that it looked inorganic.
An American man married to a Nigerian whom we had met before asked how I could tell and said that I sounded American.
He then asked, “Do Nigerians even use the word organic?”
I told him that he probably hadn’t had much exposure to Nigerians in America, given the academic and professional circles many of them belong to, and he agreed.
I found his question rather interesting because people’s limited exposure to Africans often shapes their perceptions of us.
Nobody:
Professors: “Write in your own words.”
Me: If I had my own words, I’d be the author of the textbook.
Closure is not something I seek in life.
Life didn’t even give me the chance to get closure from my parents.
I learned early that not every question will have an answer, and not everything will come with an explanation or a proper goodbye.
Sometimes, you just have to accept what is and move on.
I wanted to learn the American accent, but almost every day, 2–3 Americans tell me how much they love mine.
I get it, though, because I giggle like a baby whenever I hear Kenyans speak.
At this point, I’ll keep my accent and switch to the American one whenever I feel like it.

An applying babe will one day meet “Congratulations, we're pleased to inform you…..”
If Flora Shaw had just focused on finding herself a single man instead of falling for someone else’s husband, maybe she would’ve been busy planning her wedding instead of naming an entire country.
Now, over 200 million of us are answering Nigerians. 😭💔
I love that people can look at me and immediately tell I’m not the type to settle for less, without me having to say a word.
I don’t know what gives it away, but I love that my standards speak for themselves.
