Great example of how a perennial meadow will differ from year 1 to year 2. I am SUPER excited to see this meadow develop over the years

Using the drone to capture from above without walking on them. For those asking I prepared a stale seed bed by digging out the old grass and rotavating a few times. Then left for a while and weeded before raking in seeds at end of April. The manhole cover is for my water well. – at Carlow, Ireland

The subtle beauty and diversity of grasses is easy to miss but easy to appreciate when you take the time.

We celebrated my niece and her husband’s #wedding yesterday. Isn’t their #cake fabulous! The detail of the sugar #craft #flowers is amazing: beautiful foxgloves, cosmos, scabious, roses, cornflowers, mushrooms, sweet peas, freesias, lavender and more!

A Meadow Mandala. Gardening for nature, weeding is a bit of an anathema to me. But nature still needs nurture. Bullies, aka pernicious weeds, must be rooted out! Some pretty species can be greedy too. So I put pernicious to purpose! #NatureMandala #wildflowermeadow #nature #art

Beautiful thoughts have flourished from an array of wildflowers I posted recently.@Imagicranium moved me to step out this very moment and capture the meadows song. “I think of Wildflowers as musical notes that fell to the ground and grew into visible music” Thank you Paul. 😌 🙏

On rare occasions throughout the year, I record all the plants flowering in our meadow (once an agricultural field). Mindfully, I pick one of each that can spare a bloom. Today’s that rare and special day! I counted 50 species, most of which are represented here. #WildflowerHour

Can you believe this?! Mind blowing wildflower garden in Co. Meath. From a monoculture lawn where there was not a pollinator to be seen or heard, to this incredibly biodiverse wildflower garden #IrishNativeWildflowers

A lovely evening to get the wild flowers seeds in the ground, now we wait and hope they flower. A lot of rotavating and raking has gone into getting the seed bed stale after removing grass. No sprays used just rotavator and rake along with a lot of back breaking. The seeds are from @BloomingNative with some native mixes for large area out front and then a small area for annual mix that should give some nice colour.

A lovely Spring morning in Carlow as the hazy sunshine holds on for now as rain in the West moves in. More prep for the @BloomingNative wildflower seeds, lots of raking but no spraying.

This morning's rescue; a small goldfinch that had lost its way. Nothing a little warmth and rest couldn't fix and it was soon back on its journey again.

Working in late light to start preparing a bigger area this year for wild flowers from @BloomingNative I’d forgotten how much of a workout the rotavator is, haven’t used one in 25 years. I didn’t want to spray off the grass, well located there and also trying to avoid spraying.
