Congrats to Rory on back to back Masters titles.
Will this end talk of “golf-specific training”? Of course not.
Here’s the thing…the weight room isn’t where you practice golf. It’s where you build the physical qualities that drive overall OUTPUT & CAPACITY.

Rules are the baseline—what everyone has to do.
Standards? That’s what champions choose to do.
Great players don’t just follow rules—they set the standard.
Coaches, hold them to it.
Athletes, live it every day.
That’s how winning programs are built.

Learning from @KingJames in-season training
✔️ He lifts ON game days (yes, you heard correctly)
✔️ He focuses on full body lifts (gives scheduling flexibility)
✔️ He has set rules to help him decide WHEN to lift based on game schedule
✔️ He does something gym related daily

One pattern I’ve noticed in all dysfunctional teams:
They want success without the sacrifice.
Dan Lanning (@CoachDanLanning) said, "You know to accomplish a goal, it has to be valuable what you're willing to give up."
The mindset that transforms teams into champions:👇
Sacrifice isn’t about loss, it’s about choosing:
• Growth over comfort
• Team over individual
• Discipline over ease
Here’s how great teams embrace sacrifice:
1. Define a shared purpose - Without a common mission, sacrifice feels meaningless.
Great teams rally around connection and a shared goal bigger than themselves.
When everyone is clear on the "why," they’re willing to make sacrifices for the "what."
2. Sacrifice ego for trust - Great teams care for one another and trust each other.
They know: Ego in the wrong direction kills teams.
Trust is the foundation of a team culture where everyone fights for each other.
3. Sacrifice comfort for discipline - It means sacrificing comfort for discipline.
Great teams show up early, stay late, and do the hard work others avoid.
Every extra rep, every extra drill, every uncomfortable moment—they add up.
4. Sacrifice convenience for accountability - Accountability is uncomfortable. It means calling out teammates (and yourself) when effort slips.
Great teams demand accountability because they know it fuels consistency and keeps standards high.
5. Sacrifice short-term wins for long-term greatness - Mediocre teams chase instant gratification. Great teams sacrifice today’s ease for tomorrow’s success.
They think bigger, play the long game, and prioritize sustainable growth over temporary comfort.
Bottom Line: Any achievement requires sacrifice and hard work because success is never a product of shortcuts or complacency.
"The whole team has to make a choice at some point, is great worth it? But for winning, you have to sacrifice." - Doc Rivers

Dreaming Big From Osage City, Kansas ➡️Two-Time World Series Champion⚾️: Blake Treinen (Osage City HS ‘06) was tonight’s winning pitcher for the Dodgers as he picked up two wins in this years World Series to go 2-0 against the Yankees. He threw in the low 70s (mph) in HS, he had ZERO DI offers, he went to NAIA Baker first to play & eventually walked on to South Dakota State where he would be drafted. He was also turned down to walk-on at the University of Arkansas while in college. He now throws 97-99 MPH, has been an MLB all-star and has two World Series Championships for the Dodgers. A great story on why to believe in yourself and never give up. #sportsinkansas photo: Dodgers, MLB

As adults, we need to stop 'stealing the struggle' from our kids.
When we 'steal the struggle', we steal their opportunity for growth & learning.
We need to prepare them for the path (teach resilience, reflection, and self-respect), but we can't prepare the path for them.

Interesting article here. We see kids get less and less activity in schools with no change in sight yet we wonder what we can do. Seems like an easy thing to try first….
Study: Physical activity is 1.5 times more effective than counseling or the leading medications in managing #depression, anxiety, and distress. All forms of #exercise are effective, including yoga, Pilates, aerobic, and resistance training. Move more! buff.ly/3EIjmnE
