The rate at which he keeps raising his game is just incredible … the most important storyteller of our time. A national treasure 👇🏻
I spent two days touring Intel’s most advanced fab and talking to its technical leadership to understand what the chips of the future will look like.
A lot of what's coming next – gate-all-around transistors, backside power, CFET, hybrid bonding – is hard to follow without actually seeing it, so we made all the awesome animated explainers that I wish I had while I was prepping.
I also asked Intel’s leadership how the semiconductor industry will cope with the enormous shock in demand from AI.
AI compute has grown 3x a year for the last decade, but according to Intel's CTO, Intel could only double leading-edge wafer production with today’s global stock of chipmaking tools.
What kinds of tricks can foundries pull to extend this crossover point where demand surges way ahead of supply?
This was a totally new format for us - hope you enjoy!

0:00:47 – How Intel brings up a new process node
0:03:22 – What Intel learned from 10nm
0:06:28 – From planar transistors to gate-all-around
0:13:13 – Why High-NA EUV pays off for Intel but not TSMC

0:32:41 – Why stacked transistors take a decade to ship
0:39:45 – Hybrid bonding and the chip-to-chip bottleneck
0:48:00 – There aren't enough tools to 10x chip production

Amazing
After 20 years exploring for and producing energy, nothing has impressed me as much as ITAIPU. As a young geologist I was fortunate to be awarded a Thomas J Watson Fellowship, which enabled me to travel the world studying the energy resources and systems of many countries. I have subsequently spent my career as an operator, explorer and student of energy - from geothermal in Iceland to coal in China to solar in Spain to wind in Argentina to oil and gas in Texas, I’ve seen a lot of different energy systems up close. The scale, history and potential of ITAIPU is singularly compelling. This is why the @CrusoeAI team is excited to partner in Paraguay to add value to this amazing energy resource through AI infrastructure development. A shared vision of investment, employment, technology, innovation, clean power and community benefit make this project extremely exciting and I look forward to realizing this vision together with our local partners.
Incredibly proud of this product - it’s been an enormous effort and it’s absolute packed w amazing data if you’re tracking the AI buildout ⚡️🤓👇🏻

Incredible conversation 👇🏻
A clip from my conversation with Mary Kipp on wildfires in the West (and Hawaii) and how she addresses the profound risks at Puget Sound Energy. Tech, tech, tech, from the macro (weather and climate modeling) to the pinpoint (line sensors and cameras).

Can open-weight models write challenging Verus proofs for TLA+ specs?
We tested @NVIDIAAI's Nemotron 3.5 Super VL and the answer is...absolutely, yes!
Our fine-tuning boosts performance from 43% to 73% on the hardest benchmark.

Dense with new stuff that moves the formal verification frontier forwards:
- new agentic fine-tuning datasets, production tested with @NVIDIAAI
- our first demonstration of post-training quantization, making a fast model faster and fitting on a single H100/H200 GPU
- thousands of proofs of real-world software and systems, meaning better eval and benchmarks
and another win for open-weight models.
awesome work @ReasonableIO team!

Our team got early access to Nemotron 3.5 Super VL a few weeks ago and decided to sprint a marathon’s distance to land this project: a new dataset of over 3000 challenging Verus proofs of temporal logic (TLA+) properties, battle tested to post-train a pre-release model for agentic software verification.
Building a company is not stress-free, but this amazing team and the intensity of the work have been such a reward.

really amazing conversation ⚡️🤓👇
A quick clip from the latest Nameplate pod, and my interview with Arizona Public Service's CEO. TSMC has a $265 billion (sic) manufacturing commitment, and APS needs to power it. Insights here on how even that new significant demand can result in lower bills thanks to volumetric effects.
@HarryStebbings you asked last week about data centers potentially lowering electricity bills. Another example of the possibility (much more common in the days of heavy new electrification) of building more, and lowering rates in the process.
