We were excited to welcome U.S. Department of Energy Financing official Director Gregory Beard, Mayor Skip Henderson, and other partners to tour Oliver Dam in Columbus, Georgia. The visit gave our partners a firsthand look at how U.S Department of Energy (DOE) investments in energy infrastructure are helping power Georgia’s bright future. ⚡💧
Supported by an Office of Energy Dominance Financing (EDF) loan to Southern Company, modernization efforts at Oliver Dam are extending the life of this renewable energy asset, improving efficiency, and helping deliver affordable, reliable energy to the customers and communities we serve.
By upgrading existing infrastructure, we are strengthening Georgia’s energy future while supporting economic growth, job creation, and long-term resilience. Thank you to the U.S. Department of Energy, local leaders, and everyone involved in making this important visit a success. 🤝 @ENERGY @DOE_EDF

When storms hit, ⛈️ our crews get to work. But they’re not alone. ⚡
Thanks to ongoing investments in smart grid technology, we can quickly identify issues, reroute power when possible, and help reduce outage times. 💡🔌
After last night’s severe weather from Isaias, our smart grid technology kicked in fast, helping minimize impacts and keep more customers connected. Hear from one of our linemen about how these innovations are making the grid stronger and more resilient. ⚡

Last Saturday, we partnered with @GeorgiaPower to honor Mercy Health Center. For 25 years, Mercy Health Center has provided free, medical, dental, behavioral, and spiritual care to uninsured neighbors across 13 counties of Northeast Georgia.
Mercy's work is made possible by the talent of volunteer doctors, dentists, and counselors, the resources of generous donors, foundations, and businesses, and the servant hearts of thousands of current and former UGA students who have served patients.
Together, they bring excellent care, compassion, and hope to those who need it most.

"We’re a family here," said employee Steven Charleston, whose son and father-in-law have also been part of the Georgia Power team.

❤️ In a heartbeat, you could be the difference.
This year's Heart Walk was about more than reaching the finish line. It was about creating health and hope for every heartbeat. Every walker, volunteer and donor helped support lifesaving research, CPR education and a future where more lives can be saved.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and took action. Together, we're making a difference, one step at a time.
🤝 Storm response is truly an all-hands-on-deck effort.
When severe weather impacts our communities, employees from across the company step up to support restoration efforts. From damage assessment and field operations to customer service, logistics, communications, and storm support teams, everyone plays a role in helping restore power safely and efficiently.
It takes teamwork, coordination, and dedication across multiple business units to serve our customers when they need us most.⚡ #NationalPreparednessMonth
Great teams are built through continuous learning. 💡
📸 Pictured here is our new training field at our Lawrenceville headquarters, where crews can train, practice safety techniques, and continue learning the trade. These training fields are designed to help employees gain experience, practice safely, and develop the skills needed to meet our customers' energy needs for years to come.
As Distribution Manager Walt Dukes said, “With this training field we are creating an environment where people can learn, practice, make mistakes safely, ask questions, challenge themselves and become better at what they do.” ⚡
By investing in our people today, we're preparing for tomorrow.
Join us in congratulating these incredible graduates and all of the partners who helped make this life-changing program possible! 👏
As part of our commitment to developing Georgia’s workforce, we were honored to help support this program and invest directly in these graduates and their futures. ⚡
“On behalf of Georgia Power, congratulations on what you all have achieved. Remember, have a positive attitude and persevere. Push through whatever is in front of you, and I promise you, you'll succeed.”
