We are heartbroken to announce the passing this morning of our beloved Sophie (aka Maddy, aka Mummy). She died peacefully, with her final days filled with her true loves: family and music and warmth and Christmas and joy. We can't imagine what life will be like without her. 1.

Teachers and educators, can you clarify something for me? Are there set texts that need to be read as part of the Year 6 curriculum, on the theme of WW2? My son is being made to read Goodnight Mr Tom, which he isn't enjoying at all. In fact, he actively dreads it. 1/

Luckily, he reads at home all the time and has a wealth of books to choose from, but I worry for the other children where this might not be the case. Surely this is how children grow up not enjoying reading? They have a right to read something they enjoy, don't they? 2/

Apparently, he expressed this to his teacher, and she told him that he needed to get used to reading books he doesn't enjoy, as that's how it will be at secondary school. This is wrong, surely?? Someone reassure me?! 3/3 #edutwitter #BookTwitter #kidlit
