The 3rd GENESIS Assembly is underway in Horta, Faial (Azores) Led by IGME-CSIC, with the participation of GEOTENERIFE, partners from across Europe are meeting this week to discuss progress, challenges and next steps. Among other duties, @geotenerife organises the annual #BootCamp

Final presentation of Progr. B (@BootCampGENESIS) as last stage of the studies carried out in #lapalma related to @genesisnbs during 2026 @geointern Edition 2 has ended Special thanks to @aimacaronesia & @lapalmaresearch 🍷 @GeoTenerife @TenerifeNature Pic: @IgnacioGarciaGT

Agua La Palma association is demanding that the local Water Council implements hydraulic closures across #lapalma because “there aren’t any more excuses” regarding their effectiveness. The support of experts + 🇪🇺 projects such as @genesisnbs advocates for it. Pic: planetacanario

Understanding the internal geology of water galleries. During 2026 @BootCampGENESIS by @genesisnbs an initial 2-week of geology training was needed in #tenerife with @GeoTenerife staff but later in LP #geogydrology was needed as well. @aimacaronesia @lapalmaresearch

2026 @BootCampGENESIS Students taking part in a water sampling outside a water mine in La Palma. To control the water quality in & out the infrastructure is vital for future studies, specially in @genesisnbs demonstrators. Staff: @aimacaronesia @GeoTenerife @lapalmaresearch

Staff from @GeoTenerife @aimacaronesia and @CabLaPalma entering the Transfer Tunel (Tunel de Trasvase) to do water sampling and be able to understand how a tunnel closure is carried out. @genesisnbs is a project led by @IGME1849 🇪🇸 @BootCampGENESIS Video: @IgnacioGarciaGT

The Genesis project @genesisnbs led by @IGME1849 seeks to demonstrate that it’s possible to find solutions for the best use and reuse of water in #LaPalma including treated wastewater. Video by @IgnacioGarciaGT (works inside a water gallery by @aimacaronesia @BootCampGENESIS)

Treated and desalinated water accounts for barely 2% of water use in #LaPalma, far below the levels of other Canary Islands. @genesisnbs aims to demonstrate that it’s possible to increase water reuse through natural methods. @bootcampGENESIS Pic: @IgnacioGarciaGT @GeoTenerife

At a depth of 2,200 m inside the Transfer Tunnel (Tunel de Trasvase) to do #watersampling with @aimacaronesia and @geotenerife where radon (Rn) sensors where also installed. @genesisnbs Project is led by @IGME1849 #watermining by #CIALP @CabLaPalma @lapalmaresearch @geointern
