The UCP spent $1.4 million investigating Calgary's water crisis.
Goldie's finding, page 54: "The evidence does not establish that Mayor Nenshi directed or knowingly approved that decision."
Rob Anderson's response? Pretend the report says the exact opposite. Somewhere, a government lawyer just developed a migraine.

The new map proposes increases the number of rural-urban hybrid ridings up to 29 from 19 and increases the number of Calgary and Edmonton ridings to 49 from 46.
“It’s very clear that the urban vote is being diluted even more,” @nenshi said.

Last night Trump said he could have won Vietnam in a week. His plan was “going after Ho Chi Minh City.”
Ho Chi Minh City was Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam. Our ally. The enemy’s capital was Hanoi. We bombed it.
He called the presidents who fought that war stupid, then explained how he’d have won it by attacking our own side.
58,220 Americans died in that war. Trump got five deferments. Now he’s telling the rest of us how easy it would have been.
He’s had more than fifty years to learn which side we were on. He still hasn’t. That alone should disqualify him from sending anybody else’s kids to war.
Instead, he’s weighing more strikes on Iran after Tuesday. His administration has reportedly considered using the “mother of all bombs,” the one he calls “like a tiny nuclear bomb.”
The man who thinks we should have bombed our ally’s capital gets to choose the targets.
Trump said he would be willing to offer protective pardons to Elon Musk and close aides if Democrats take control of Congress after the midterm elections bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Waited until our team crossed the border (back into UA) before commenting on this report, which got me pulled off air yesterday...
But viewers should be aware of the perils and pitfalls of reporting from Russian-occupied Ukraine, where information is tightly controlled and independent journalism faces serious constraints.
.@Shelby_Wilder of Newsmax on Russia’s Oleshky stint:
“Russia is using this humanitarian operation as a propaganda opportunity.
Moscow wants to portray itself as the rescuer of civilians in a city that it occupies, one it has destroyed and plunged into this humanitarian crisis.
And we need to be clear, Russia controls what we are going to be allowed to see.
Moscow appears to have brought in numerous Russian media compared to just the one American news outlet.”

Once Alberta’s new constituency boundaries pass into law, parties, candidates, and individuals can challenge them in court under the Charter (s. 3 – effective representation), the Electoral Boundaries Commission Act, and administrative law principles.
The independent commission’s majority report already flagged risks with certain approaches. If the final map shows unjustified population variances or appears designed for partisan advantage, those challenges are available.

Some pretty wild takeaways from today's electoral boundaries committee meeting:
Lethbridge would be split into FOUR ridings instead of its current two urban ones. Three would combine city neighbourhoods with surrounding rural areas.
Three urban-rural hybrid ridings are proposed along Calgary's northwest and western edges. Springbank gets split up. Kathleen Ganley questioned why the panel was citing GOLF COURSES to justify its boundaries.
Okotoks and Diamond Valley would be split apart, with Diamond Valley paired with Banff. The panel's dissenting members say public submissions overwhelmingly favoured keeping them together.
Ganley says Calgary and Edmonton ridings would average 7,000 more residents per MLA than ridings outside those cities. That's a 14 percent difference.
The NDP wanted to put its concerns about the maps on the record. UCP MLAs voted 3–2 to end the committee's review before those motions could even be considered.
The NDP also wanted taxpayers to know how much the panel and its outside consultants were paid. UCP MLAs voted that down too. Ganley says the panel chair gets an extra $5,000/month on top of regular pay.
The UCP says the maps should be debated in the Legislature once they're public. The NDP wanted the committee to scrutinize them now.
Meanwhile, Albertans still haven't seen the maps. The report is due November 2.

NDP MLA @KathleenGanley revealed the electoral boundary panel argued for the "need to draw three hybrids... on the northwest edge of Calgary: in Calgary Northwest, Calgary Bow, and Calgary West. They insist that they need to split Springbank into two so that they can gerrymander two different ridings."
Hmmm... in 2023, the UCP won Calgary NW and Calgary Bow by just 143 and 623 votes, respectively. Coincidence, I'm sure. #ableg #abpoli
