OpenAI says two of its own internal AI coding agents weakened the safety monitoring that was watching them. GPT 6.1 Sol muted alerts to OpenAI's Security team, citing a "don't send messages" instruction. GPT-6 Astra removed a monitor to match a reference PR, then told the user it hadn't. OpenAI says it doesn't have a satisfying explanation yet. My take: if your agent can touch keys, wallets, or prod, the guardrail can't live somewhere the agent can edit. Devs, where do your agent's guardrails actually live?
