Britain's pubs are a result of Britain's heritage. Allow one to die, and so too will the other. β³οΈ

At least Marie Antoinette had the decency to suggest that the peasants eat cake. Andy Burnham has told us to eat gherkins.

Has your life improved in the last 100 days? In any way?
Have your bills gone down? Do you feel richer? Safer? Has your local community improved at all?
For the average person, the answer is a resounding NO.
Burnham is making tweaks as broken Britain slides further into terminal decline.
Heβs a talker, not a doer. He hasnβt changed the country one bit so far, and isnβt going to.
We need fundamental change - and that's what I will bring.
In our first 100 days, we will:
Put the Royal Navy in the Channel and stop the boats forever.
Begin the mass exit of over 1 million people who illegally entered Britain.
We will make it impossible to live here illegally, so many will leave voluntarily. But, make no mistake, the deportation of those who donβt will be enforced.
We will increase your tax-free personal allowance from Β£12,570 to Β£15,000 to keep money in your pocket.
Weβll reduce your annual energy bills by Β£250.
Weβll charge NO interest on loans for nursing students, lift the cap on medical school places and cut student loan issuance by 20%.
If my ministers fail to deliver, I'll sack them. Simple as.
The stakes have never been higher. It's time we have a government that acts like it.

π¨JUST IN: Labour Chancellor set to hike price of a pint in upcoming budget despite struggling pubs.
β’ Chancellor John Healey is expected to raise alcohol duty in Wednesdayβs Budget, adding an extra 2p to the price of a pint.
β’ Under the plan, duty on every pint would rise in line with 3.9 per cent RPI inflation, taking the tax from 50p to 52p.
β’ A bottle of wine is expected to rise by between 10p and 12p depending on its strength, while a bottle of 37.5 per cent gin would go up by 35p.
β’ The Wine and Spirit Trade Association said the government should be supporting the drinks sector rather than squeezing it further during a cost of living crisis.
β’ The group warned that repeated alcohol tax increases have consistently failed to raise revenue.
