We think having no ‘boxes’ is more dangerous, but what would the ppl on bikes who use it know? Where’s the data or discussion to back this up? In the meantime anyone got some spare paint we could borrow, before one of us gets hurt or killed by @ReadingCouncil behaviour? 🎨🚧🚴‍♀️
Hello Jane, we have received the following response from the Team: 'I can confirm that following the recent resurfacing works, it was intentional not to reinstate the cycle reservoirs (boxes) and the cycle lane on the north side of Lower Henley Road due to safety concerns.'

During resurfacing @ReadingCouncil removed a junction box which has made it dangerous to use a cycle route on Henley Rd. They told no one, and when asked - it’s for HGVs. @JanGavin91 @matthewjyeo as councillors for this ward were you made aware?

This has to be dealt with, our other pavement is at points unwalkable. The driver hasn’t parked near a drop curve. If I was in a wheelchair should I just wait until the driver deigns to move their car. Wilson Road #westreading @ReadingCouncil

Can you believe I got pulled over by police on Heathlands road, Wokingham on my cargo bike today, to tell me it’s a dangerous road to cycle on with a child? It’s not even a ‘b-road’, I use my bike for transport everyday! Pre -emptive victim blaming? @ThamesVP @WatchWokingham

Please keep a look out for this bike.
If anyone sees our bike can you let me know or the police know. It was just stolen from outside @Rdng_bsct_fctry

Whatever the energy source, this is a lot of resources to move one person (and an occasional fridge).

Can you imagine how amazing Oxford Road would be if pedestrianised? @ReadingCouncil @CllrTonyPage. Let's see some ambition from the council to improve the town for its residents not just those who drive through it.
OFFICIAL: Report into first week of Dublin pedestrianisation trials around Grafton St finds: 1. Traders' income up 40%-100%. 2. 96% say it's improved streets in public survey. 3. 90%+ say it should be made permanent. 4: Highest footfall in the area since early March.

Well done Wokingham. @ReadingCouncil how are you doing?
Hi William, thank you for your message. We recently submitted to reduce the speed limit to 20mph on roads in and around Wokingham town centre, which should come into force soon. New signage will be put up once this is in place. Many thanks, Connor

Very depressing. And all because councils were too slow to reallocate road space. The inaction by Reading Borough council will make the town less safe, less healthy and more polluted. #rdguk
Cycling levels are falling and motor vehicle usage is almost back to normal. What will congestion look like in September when schools go back? gov.uk/government/statistics…

For all the motorists that moan about being delayed by a minute or two before they can overtake a cyclist or horse rider... Footage from a motorway, where there are no cyclists or horse riders. The vast majority of delays are caused by motorists.

It’s not about Meatloaf. It’s not about me. It’s not about what some people call me. It’s not about left or right. It’s all about scientific facts. And that we’re not aware of the situation. Unless we start to focus everything on this, our targets will soon be out of reach.
