They did not just kill the people…
Between 1986 and 1989, Iraq razed entire Kurdish villages. Homes, farms, infrastructure.
Dozens of ancient monasteries and churches were demolished.
Centuries of heritage, gone on purpose.
Genocide, defined.
Up to 180,000 Kurds were killed. Christians, Yazidis, Shabaks, Faylis and Turkmens were driven out alongside them.

Driven to cannibalism in the 20th century! How?
the Holodomor-Genocide
Soviet police sentenced more than 2,500 people in Ukraine for cannibalism
in 1932 and 1933. Then they buried the reports.
It was not a drought. Stalin's government seized the grain, punished peasants for keeping even small amounts of it, and sealed the villages so no one could leave to look for food.
At least 3.9 million Ukrainians died.
Ukraine and a growing number of countries call it what is.
Genocide,defined.

Religious coexistence WAS possible.
Lebanon proved it.
Before the civil war, Beirut was called the Paris of the Middle East.
A country where faiths actually shared a homeland.
Then the rise of radical Islamist groups like Hezbollah, fueled by outside powers, shattered that balance and drove out minorities.
Lebanon's fate is a warning:
unchecked extremism can destroy diverse societies.

Religious diversity existed in Iran, until it was deliberately destroyed.
Mona Mahmudnizhad was a Baháʼí schoolgirl in Shiraz.
She was 17. Iran hanged her for teaching children.
In June 1983 she was executed alongside nine other Baháʼí women.
Their crime was refusing to renounce their faith.
2/3
Before 1979, Iran was a mosaic: Muslims, Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, Baháʼís.
Discrimination existed before 1979. What came after was a program.
The Islamic Republic set out to enforce religious uniformity.
Baháʼís were denied recognition as a faith entirely and branded spies for Israel.
Mona's execution wasn't an aberration.
It was the policy, with a face.
3/3
Four decades later, Baháʼís in Iran are still denied education, still arrested, still stripped of property.
The threat to religious freedom has not changed in centuries. Only the names of the people enforcing it.
If you'd rather keep your original wording, swap that one line for:
"While religious minorities have long faced challenges in Iran, the persecution of Baháʼís since 1979 is unprecedented in its scope and severity."
Same position in the post.

She had the means to bring life into the world. They came with the means to end it.
October 31, 2010: gunmen stormed Sunday evening Mass at Our Lady of Salvation in Baghdad and killed at least 58 people.
Two were priests.
One died at the altar. Among the dead was a pregnant woman.
One of those priests had married her in that same church a short time before.
Christians had lived in Iraq for two thousand years.
The attackers' aim was to end that.
The names of those who carry it out change through history. The mission, and the threat, never do.

Your ultimatum is Convert, flee, or die. What do you choose?
In 1148 an army called the Almohads took Córdoba and gave every non-Muslim in the city those three options.
They had come out of the mountains of Morocco to purify Islam.
For 400 years Christians and Jews in Muslim Spain had lived under a deal:
pay a tax called the jizya, keep your faith, stay alive. The Almohads tore it up.
Churches shut. Synagogues shut. Thousands recited the Islamic creed in the street and kept their own faith behind barred doors.
Within a generation, neither community was left in Córdoba.

Fez, Morocco, 1165. A rabbi named Yehuda ibn Susan is executed for refusing to convert.
The family who came for his teaching fled the same year. Their son became Maimonides.
One army, one doctrine, one generation. The men who did it believed they were doing God's work.
Eight centuries later, the same ultimatum. Mosul, 2014:
convert, pay the jizya, leave, or die.
Different century. Same conviction.

Darin Komarov testified to the Civil Commission, and said it publicly in the Knesset.
She arrived at the Nova festival in a caravan.
When the shooting
started, she and seven other people hid inside it.
They were there
about seven hours.
She could not see out.
"I was sitting here in the caravan; I heard rape here, here, and
here.
I can point to where. It was very distinct. It was on this
side, on this side, and on this side. three points."
Three points. She can still point to them.

He was not a soldier or a paramedic. He was a civilian who drove toward it.
Eran Masas
On Oct 7th, following Hamas’s Attack, He drove into the nightmare of the Nova festival site near the Gaza border in Israel..
"I'm zigzagging with the car between
bodies."
After arriving there he decided his job would be collecting the dead.
The first body he collected was a naked woman.
"I started talking to her, as if she were alive. I asked her permission to put clothes on her. I wanted to dress her because I looked at this as a father, the father of Romy, my seven-year-old daughter, and I said to myself, what if it were the opposite, what if this was my Romy?"
"I came to assist as a citizen. I have been walking through hell for three days. If someone wants to know what hell looks like, I can tell him."
