Ron Darling during that broadcast quoted Roger Angell: "'Since baseball time is measured only in outs, all you have to do is succeed utterly; keep hitting, keep the rally alive, and you have defeated time.'"
"That was a blank sheet of paper at one point," Darling added.
My father and I watched both of these shows nightly, and traded texts and calls about them. My son watches them when he’s home. This really stinks, @SNYtv.

They are turning SNY to the shitty Yes Network content…all infomarcials and then 3 hours of yankees baseball every day for 6 months 😅

Beyond the on-air cancellations, the SNY site was a valuable resource for and repository of day-to-day news. Real heartbeat of local teams stuff. Imploding it amounts to a detonation of information.

Brutal what happened at SNY. The people in charge are responsible for its demise, of course, but the hard-working folks below them pay. Lots of great people there, and they don’t deserve this.

Devastating news for so many extremely talented people I had the absolute pleasure of working with the past two years.

So heartbroken over the happenings at SNY. One of the best things about my post playing days has been the level of talent at every level of SNY I’ve been able to work with. In front of the camera, but behind as well. I’m truly at a loss here.

Just gutted by today's SNY layoffs. As someone lucky enough to work with such a talented and flat-out fun group, losing that passion (along with the playful witty irreverence) of those impacted staffers leaves a huge void in the NY sports landscape. A lot less joy in Metsville.
Sad day for a lot of folks we've enjoyed watching at @SNYtv over the years. Hopefully they will land elsewhere soon.
Reminder for those who are wondering: SNY has the rights to broadcast Mets games through 2035.
The Wilpons retained ownership of the network when they sold the team, but have been looking for investors over the past year. While the network has generated consistent profit in the past, the Wilpons heavily leveraged it -- taking out upwards of $800m in loans over the years.

This sucks on so many levels. SNY was the only decent big local sports website (MSG quit trying long ago), SportsNite was the only local highlights show and BNNY was consistently fun and entertaining. Of course, when there's no baseball until 2029...

Just an awful take - baseball on the radio is beautiful

@DavidPSamson says MLB no longer needs radio: "We don't need baseball on radio anymore." The former Marlins president predicts on Nothing Personal that "radio will go the way of Kodak and Blockbuster." @JohnMamola has more. #MLB

"When I got to Chicago, I told pitching coach Dave Duncan:
'I'm at 135.'"
Tom Seaver.
Yes, Rube Walker, Gil Hodges, and the Mets put Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman, and Nolan Ryan on pitch counts.
Seaver's limit was 135 pitches.
Koosman's was 145 pitches.
And Ryan's was 150.
Fox broadcast just said Luis Lara making his World Series debut. He was a defensive substitution in Game 1. Can we get a broadcaster that actually likes baseball to do the World Series? Give me TBS next year. #MLB
Francisco Lindor and his wife Katia had an emotional moment when they found out he had been named the recipient of the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award:
“This is something when our kids grow up, they’re gonna look back and say my mom and dad were very cool because they were blessing others and helping others”

Only the Mets could acquire a guy from the eventual NL pennant winner and trade him to the eventual AL pennant winner.
