Some reagent tests use more than one liquid, and the order matters.
Read the instructions for your specific kit before testing.
A result is only useful if the test was done correctly.
The Transparency Triple Check is: Screen, Identify, Verify.
Use relevant test strips when there’s a specific concern, cross-test with multiple reagents, then compare each reaction with lab-verified videos in the free Transparency Harm Reduction App.

A color change isn’t a full answer.
Reagents can help indicate what may be present, but they can’t tell you purity or potency.
Use multiple reagents, follow the instructions, and compare your results with the free Transparency Harm Reduction App.
A measured dose of identified psilocybin in a clinical trial is different from mushroom material.
Potency can vary between species, batches, individual mushrooms, and even different parts of one mushroom.
Appearance and strain names can’t tell you how potent a sample is.

Minnesota’s total fatal overdoses rose to 1,025 in 2025, even as opioid deaths fell for a third straight year.
Stimulant-related deaths climbed to 642, narrowing the gap with opioids.
The shift shows why overdose responses must adapt: naloxone is essential for opioids, but it cannot treat stimulant toxicity.
Edgecombe County, North Carolina, recorded 32 overdose deaths in 2023, its highest number on record and one of the state’s highest per-capita rates.
A community paramedic began testing drugs involved in local overdoses and used the findings to change the county’s response through the PORT program.
Overdose deaths have fallen by nearly half since PORT launched, while the local drug supply continues to change.
Cychlorphine has been linked to at least 122 U.S. fatal overdoses since July 2025. The federal government designated it an emerging drug threat in April 2026, and the DEA temporarily placed it in Schedule I in August.
The substance has been identified in roughly 25 states and has appeared mixed into powders and counterfeit pills, including in the Midwest.
There are currently no at-home test strips that detect cychlorphine. Explore lab testing options at TransparencyTesting.com.
Naloxone can reverse an opioid overdose involving cychlorphine, though multiple doses may be needed.
Could mebufotenin, a psychedelic compound found in Sonoran Desert toad venom, lead to a new treatment for treatment-resistant depression? 🐸
A phase 2b trial studied a single-dose nasal spray formulation in 193 adults whose depression had not responded to multiple antidepressant trials.
Participants received an 8-milligram dose, a 12-milligram dose, or a very low-dose comparator, along with psychological support.
Both active doses were associated with greater reductions in depression scores than the comparator, with differences observed for up to 57 days.
Most side effects were mild or moderate, and most participants were considered ready for discharge within two hours.
This was a clinical trial of a nasal spray formulation—not raw toad venom. The findings are promising, but the treatment is still being studied and needs further research.

Knowing what a sample may contain and knowing how much is present are different questions.
Reagents can show reactions consistent with LSD or another indole, but they can’t confirm the substance or measure its dose.
Could a psychedelic compound found in toad venom treat depression when snorted?
A Phase 2b trial of 193 adults with treatment-resistant depression found that a single dose of nasal mebufotenin reduced symptoms, with effects lasting weeks.
Participants received one 8 mg or 12 mg dose, or a very low comparator dose, alongside structured psychological support.
Average improvement was around 30%, and remission rates were below those typically seen with ketamine or electroconvulsive therapy.
Potency testing and lab analysis answer different questions.
The Psilocybin QTest estimates potency at home; lab testing can analyze an eligible submitted sample for psilocybin, psilocin, and other tryptamines.

In a small randomized Swedish trial of 35 adults with depression, several participants improved within 48 hours of a single 25 mg psilocybin dose.
Remission was reported by 53% at six weeks versus 6% on placebo, but the groups no longer differed significantly at one year.
LSD blotter reacting to the Ehrlich reagent 🧪
Ehrlich is the reagent that matters most for blotter, since it detects indoles and actually reacts with LSD when many other reagents stay clear.
A genuine blotter turns purple/pink, which is a strong sign you’re looking at a real indole like LSD.

Minnesota’s opioid deaths fell for a third straight year, but overall overdose deaths rose. 📉
In 2025, Minnesota’s opioid-involved deaths fell for the third year in a row, from a high of 1,039 in 2022 to 671.
Fentanyl-involved deaths also declined, from 602 in 2024 to 564 in 2025.
But the overall overdose picture moved in the other direction: deaths involving all drugs rose from 994 to 1,025.
Minnesota health officials say the increase was driven by stimulant-involved deaths, including methamphetamine and cocaine. Hospitalizations for nonfatal stimulant overdoses also increased.
The state launched a new alert system in October that uses EMS data to spot local overdose spikes and emerging drug threats. More than 75 Minnesota counties have provided contacts for the system.

A recent small pilot trial at UCSF studied 12 adults aged 40–75 with mild-to-moderate Parkinson’s disease and mood symptoms.
Participants received 10 mg of psilocybin followed by 25 mg about two weeks later.
Researchers observed lower combined inflammation-marker scores at three follow-ups, including 30 days after the second dose.
Some individual markers, including IL-6, IL-8 and C-reactive protein, decreased after the first dose.
A mitochondrial stress marker also fell, but that change was no longer statistically significant after 30 days
In a federally funded survey of 1,023 recent cannabis consumers, dispensary staff were more trusted overall than clinicians or government officials.
Dispensary staff had the highest average trust rating, 3.7 out of 5, followed by friends at 3.5 and healthcare providers at 3.4. State and federal officials averaged 2.9.
The most trusted source varied by reason for use: 55% of respondents seeking medicinal use chose healthcare providers, while 47% of those using cannabis for fun or relaxation chose dispensary staff.

A small pilot study of 48 adults found that women who received 15 micrograms of LSD responded about 8% faster on one sustained-attention task and had fewer attention lapses.
Researchers didn’t observe a comparable improvement among men.

The Pentagon is funding development of an under-the-tongue ketamine wafer, Wafermine, for battlefield pain, building on ketamine’s existing military use.
The $40.95 million project is still in clinical development and has not been authorized or deployed.
A reported licensing issue with the proposed U.S. manufacturing partner could complicate production and timing.
In a new mouse study, psilocybin increased the formation of dendritic spines (small structures that help neurons connect) within 24 hours.
Many of these new connections persisted for weeks.
Chronically stressed mice showed a greater increase in new connections and less loss of existing ones than healthy mice, suggesting the effects may depend on the brain’s starting condition.
Manipulating serotonin receptors in specific neurons has allowed researchers to produce structural changes without the head-twitch response used as a behavioral proxy for psychedelic effects in mice.
