Reading Storm of Steel made me see just how vastly different WW1 and WW2 are in terms of the men who fought in it. In WW1 soldiers not all obviously, didn't really hate their enemy, they saw each other as equals who are stuck in the same circumstances.

Meanwhile In WW2 you don't really see or hear that, what you'll hear most of the time is when you're captured by an enemy you're either going to be tortured and killed or be sent to a gulag/concentration camp, you expected no mercy from your captors.
