Made in England was never meant to be just another online shop. The real idea was to create one place where English makers and producers could sell directly to the public. No fighting for attention. No being drowned out by the big names. Building the full vision from day one would have taken a much bigger team and budget. So we started smaller, focusing on food, drink and gifts. The ambition hasn’t changed, though. We want to help outstanding English producers sell more, here and overseas. Not just the famous names, but the smaller makers creating exceptional things most people have never come across. In time, overseas fulfilment centres coule be opened. Or we could grow Made in England into the wider marketplace it was always meant to be. Either way, the goal is the same: to build a serious route from England’s makers to customers around the world. When an English producer grows, the impact spreads far beyond that one business. It keeps people in work, supports suppliers and helps preserve specialist skills. It gives the next generation a reason to stay and learn a craft. It keeps productive land in use, and choosing food made here over imports can cut unnecessary food miles. As we grow, Made in England will remain a business built here, creating value here and paying its fair share here. But first, the idea has to prove itself. Likes and shares help people discover us. But they don’t build a business. Orders do. Every purchase from MadeInEngland.com supports the producers on the site and moves us one step closer to the bigger vision. We launched just a few weeks ago. We’re still at the very beginning. If you want to see this become something substantial, something that gives English makers a stronger market at home and abroad, don’t just agree with the idea. Help us prove it can work. 👉 madeinengland.com

English Whisky is about to become a protected geographical indication. From 1 October, only whisky meeting the official English specification will be able to use the name. There are now more than 70 English whisky distilleries, exports reach more than 30 countries, and an estimated £1 billion of English whisky is currently maturing in casks across England. This is not just about protecting a name. It protects provenance, supports investment and gives English producers a stronger identity in the global whisky market. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Corfe Castle, West Street, Dorset. A wonderful glimpse of old rural England, with cattle being driven along the village road beneath the ruins of Corfe Castle, one of the most dramatic medieval strongholds in the country 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Halfway to a hundred reviews, and sitting just under five stars. A hundred is the number we're chasing before Christmas. Thank you to everyone who has left one so far. More requests going out this week, so if an email lands asking what you made of the food, that's why.

We’re busy planning our Christmas range and wanted to ask our supporters for a little inspiration… What English-made gifts would you like to buy for friends and family this Christmas? And what would you be delighted to find under the tree yourself? Food, drink, hampers, homeware, something completely different? We’d love to hear your ideas. 🎅🎄

English wine could be heading for an exceptional 2026 vintage. 🍇 After an extraordinarily hot summer: • Nyetimber expects its earliest harvest EVER, several weeks ahead of average • Gusbourne says grapes harvested so far are in “exceptional condition” • Westwell in Kent expects an “amazing harvest” • The warmer climate could even help England produce more high-quality red wine And English wine is increasingly finding buyers overseas: Chapel Down's international sales rose 66% in the first half of 2026. An industry to watch.

One of England's most extraordinary country houses. 🏰 Waddesdon Manor rises above the Buckinghamshire countryside on a hill that was virtually bare when Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild bought the estate in 1874. Within a decade, it had been transformed into this. Built to entertain guests and house Rothschild's remarkable collection of art and furniture, Waddesdon became one of the great houses of Victorian England. Queen Victoria herself visited in 1890 and was reportedly particularly fascinated by its electric lighting, refusing to have the curtains closed so she could watch the lights being switched on from outside. During the Second World War, children evacuated from London were housed on the estate. Today, Waddesdon and its gardens are cared for by the Rothschild Foundation on behalf of the National Trust and remain open for the public to enjoy. Waddesdon Manor, Buckinghamshire.

Amazing. It looks like the pub from The Lord of the Rings just before the Black Riders turn up.
This remarkable building has stood in Bradford-on-Avon for more than 500 years. The Bridge Tea Rooms dates its origins to around 1502, when it began as a single-storey cottage. Its distinctive upper floor and twin gables were added in 1675, a date still recorded in the stonework. Over the centuries, it has been associated with a tailor, a blacksmith, a sweet shop and an antique shop before becoming a tea room in 1989. Today, visitors can still sit beneath old timber beams and take afternoon tea within walls that have stood for more than five centuries. Follow @OaksAndLions for more on England’s history and heritage.

Just an idea: when planning town centre developments, why can’t we draw more inspiration from our own history and architecture? It may cost more upfront, but distinctive places attract visitors, tourism, increase foot traffic, encourage local pride, and create value that lasts for generations.
